View Full Version : Under the Knife
Several of you may have seen me hobbling around as of late. Finally got the MRI results back on my knee. I've got torn cartilage in the socket area of the knee. Gonna have to do an outpatient surgery to fix, just wondering if anyone else on here has had a silmular surgery? If so, how long to get back on both legs again?

dang man, sorry to hear that.
I saw you hobbling out to your truck when I was in the office this morning. I was gonna catch up with ya, but I was being pulled in a million different directions as usual.
hope you are back on both wheels before too long.

Bama, I've had the same surgery for the same problem. Rehab time will depend on you, and how much you work at it. After the surgery, your muscles will atrophy from non-use, and the key is to follow your physical therapy plan to the letter and use LOTS of ice after every workout.

I also had the same type of surgery. Ditto on the PT. It is hard, it hurts, too bad! Do the exercises, do the home stuff, do it right and you will be back up much faster.
I was on crutches for about 2 weeks, had cartilage damage as well as the meniscus plus some other junk floating around in my knee. I was a total wimp about PT, but did it anyway, my physical therapist is amazing so that helped.
Good luck! LOTS OF ICE!

Now you can get fixed and wheel with us again! :)
Good luck!

I have had it done once to my left knee and 3 times to my right.
I was walking with one crutch the day after and crutch free in 3 days. It took me about 3 weeks before stairs were ok.

I am surprised you guys (Andy and Admar) didn't just offer to fab him a new knee out of Heim Joins and 3/8" plate and weld it into place. :-)
****... one of those dual steering stabilizers could have been added to minimize the clanking when he walked.
HA !
JK - Good luck David !!!

LMAO
Surgery when "OK". No pain yet, but I'm sure tomorrow will probably be the worst of it. It's COLLEGE FOOTBALL" watching all day tomorrow, so I won't need to go futher then the kitchen and bath all day anyway.
Thanks Everyone.

Glad to hear you are doing ok David!
If I lived closer, I would come help out where I could!
I could cook for you, but then you would have to go to
the hospital and stay!! lol
Anyway, keep us up to date on how you are doing..... please.
