OK folks, like anything else we own, there is always a book to look at so to fix it when things go bad. Where can I find a book on the LJ, or will a TJ book work for me? I would hate to get a shop to do what I can fix.

....Why climb it, cuz its a Jeep.....

Well, um, it's just a TJ. There should be no different book for it. Frame's a TJ, Tub's a TJ, everything's a TJ. Hey, it IS a TJ. :) No such thing as an LJ.

Now, are you talking about a Haynes Manual, Factory Service manual or anything?

I have a Haynes and it has worked for everything I have needed to do. I also have a factory service manual for the tougher stuff.

The Unlimited is a TJ. Just keep in mind that you may have slightly different part numbers for things like the driveshafts, etc if any of those manuals refer to the short wheel base TJ.

The Haynes manual sucks. There is nothing in the one i bought on any of the Rubicon specific parts... t-case axles... etc.

I think the current Haynes only covers through 2000 TJ's, so it wouldn't have any Rubicon information. For my 97, it works great though. I just have to be sure I read the info on TJ's and not YJ's. :) I torqued a shock mounting bolt to the specs for the YJ - I snapped it cuz it was twice what the TJ required. heheh

the one I had was something through 2003 (All Models). It said on the cover. So It should have had the rubicon in there. Autozone first said they don't take books back after you open them. I told them it said All Models and mine aint in it. They finally gave me my money back.

OK so there is no thing as a LJ, ok cool, i'll still call it a LJ. Cool?
Now the books are another thing. I did find a internet link that had LJ books for the 2004.5 "LJ" unlimited Jeep. But after seeing what you all had to say, I will look for a TJ book. I just feel un-easy when it comes to a new model year that is not really covered in any of the manuals. .

I was referring to the Haynes Manual that covered through 2003. Now if your unlimited isn't a rubi it should have everygthing you need. I was specifically looking for info on the 241 t-case and lockers.

Now, are you talking about a Haynes Manual, Factory Service manual or anything? .

Go for the factory book. It will take care of it all. I'd be more concerned about service bulletins, and any recalls that may occur.Considering its a new rig.Hope you have a code reader, for the drive train, and possibly the abs.It aint like the old days where you could tinker. The best part of the factory manuals are the complete wiring schematics.Beyond that, if you know your way around the rig, its going to be a long while before you are going to be tearing anything apart
