Anyone have experience with the Rubicon Express rear bumper with swing out tire carrier? Pricey thing, it is, but looks pretty solid.

I think you can find cheaper options out there. But it is very well made and you get what you pay for. Toys by troy has a nice bumper. Jeeperman, hanson and some others I forget. Jason

PS did your lift come in yet?

Yeah, I talked to Dave and the RE bumper has been discontinued. I am looking at the Safari Gard bumper too, and Dave recommended the Rock Hard bumper. Mike said he thought the Safari Gard might be the one Gil had problems with, so I am going to check on that. Does the Jeeperman bumper swing away when you open the back gate, or do you have pins or anything that locks it separately you have to mess with first?

I like the ones from LoD.

I would go with the rockhard bumper. Or check out this site. www.rokmen.com (http://www.rokmen.com)

Jeeperman has a separate swing function. I've heard that there is no rattle from them at all, but installing the bushings and such can be tricky.

I love my Jeeperman bumpers (don't have the tire carrier).

TbT has a nice feature that the rear bumper bends around the rear of the tub to provide some corner protection. Again, if I had had my choice of bumpers with a bigger budget, they'd be on Kermit right now.

There is nothing tricky about the install of the jeeperman tire carrier. There is just better designs out there. I do run their products and if someone would hurry up and develop their tire carrier I would switch out. Jason

www.4wd.com is now making their own and it's less than the Warn setup. I've done business with them and would buy it if I was in the market and it was in my price range.

Design your own and have someone build it. Then it will be something rare and yours.

After ripping off a stock tire holder on the ole rubi UL i started shopping for the swing out tire holder-bumper .I have seen just about all of them .I picked the toysBYtroy one .He is right down the street from the house and price did come into play aswell .It is not a straight foreward bolt right up deal , not on my application anyway ,Granted i did want to retain my bolt on trailer hitch .All n ALL it was minor lil stuff that when i could handle no more , i brought it over to troys shop , he had it fixed up and on my jeep in no time . he actually went the extra mile to make it right .That alone counts big time in my book and i will be buying more stuff from him for that very reason .The tire carrier and bumper set up of his also has the high lift jack holder too.He is also working on a bolt up piece for same set up to hold 2 jerry cans .The cool thing is when you wanna fill your jeep you do not have to remove the cans , all done w. a pump .I saw the prototype today cool deal !Also have to mention that his rear bumper has a better set up for depature angles .It also has a wrap around body design to give some protection to the lower rear quarters .good luck and let us know what ya got , w/ feedback

I've been using the Bestop swing out for about 3 years. Works perfectly and the powder coat held up nicely, good heavy duty quality. I also had to shim the lower mount off of the frame to compensate for the 1" body lift, but that wasn't a problem. I used a $90.00 Olympic 48" bumper to cap off the frame for looks. Then put about $400. back in your pocket ;)
