Today i went out to livingston and had no major problems out there (except for a bent back bumper). I made it all the way back home to lexington, about 60-75 miles away, and was at a stop light and my jeep died on me, i started it back up and noticed the check engine light was on. Well this happened several times b4 i got home. It seems to wait too long to switch into 2nd gear(auto). Its idling at 1500 in park, i switch it to N, and it drops back down to normal. When in drive it wants to die when at idle. and it seems like it has a hard time taking off like its missing, almost like the plugs are going bad? but would this just all of a sudden just happen? I thought i got some mud/water in my disturator cap but that wouldnt make it just die would it? and if it was that im sure it would have cleared up after the hour drive home. I thought maybe its a sensor but i dont know much. Does anyone know what it costs to get it put on a machine to find out at a dealership?

Around here it would run you around $75 give or take to put it on a machine. I would take a look at the throttle position sensor. That could affect your idle. Also check your EGR valve and O2 sensors.

Yeah bill i spoke with Don earlier on the phone and he thought it might be a sensor also, he mentioned autozone to get it hooked up, i know advanced does it for free but only 97 or newer so i hope that a.z. will do it free also and have the ablities to do it on a 95 model. Anyone know about what kinda price range the sensors are?

Ive been told today that by a buddy that one of his past trucks was acting the same way as mine was and he said all he did was change the transmission filter. until he told me this i didnt know the trany had a filter. Anyone think this could be the problem?

Well, a bad torque convertor lockup solenoid can give the same symptoms. However, like most others, I'd have to look at it myself before I'd attempt to say what the problem really is.

i went ahead and changed my tranny filter yesterday and finished up this moring b.c it got dark last night on me. Same problem still. I took it into the shop today and they seem to think i have a problem with my governor in the tranny, but also they think there is another problem in the engine b.c of the rough idleing and the dieing at stop lights. Ill know more tomorrow and will keep everyone updated.

Well today i got a call from the shop, i have a bad throttle body sensor, and large metal shavings in my tanny pan, which wasnt there when i changed the fliter the other day, so it happened during the trip from my house to the shop, which it was worse when i was driving it last. The tanny could need to be rebuilt or just somthing inside needs to be replaced. They assured me that i will have it back tomorrow afternoon so i wont miss tb this weekend.
I guess that rock climb at livingston killed my jeep!! temperality anyway, but i did get good footage from the first attempt, witch is in my gallery.
