Are the dunes on Lake Mich. closed to off road use? I understand that at one time it was possible to do so.

Phil, I lived up there and frequented the Warren Dunes for about 20 years.
I have NEVER seen, in that time, any kind of offroad vehicle on them.
It has been about 10 years since I have been there though so maybe it
has changed. (Just an observation.) :) There may be different areas
that are for OHV though, I have just never heard of them.
I went to South Bend (AM General Military Driving School) and a couple of the instructors had CJ;s they said there were dunes in Michagin they brought them too.

Are there any dunes that allow it. I have seen pics of rigs running duines, thought (for some reason) that it was n. Indiana.

Well, the Warren Dunes are in IN. They are part of the Lake Michigan dunes. As for any of the dunes in MI, I have no clue. Guess I'm considered "clueless" in that area then! ;)
Silverlake,MI has a big dune riding area. They also hold competition hillclimbs up there.

This brings back some memories. I used to live in northern Indiana (Miller, just outside of Gary) and would play on some of the local dunes there. One time even went to work over some trails at the dunes and on the lake shore when the roads were too backed up with people in cars that couldn't get through the snow. I lived about a block off the lake and worked at US Steel which was also on the lake. Lucky I didn't get hung up but had a new 4x4 Pickup and thought I could go ANYWHERE!

There is an OHV park in southern Indiana in Warrick County. I just heard about it today. The number on the flyer I was given is (812)305-4005. It is called "The Big Nasty Off Road Park." I plan on trying it out soon and will post back after I visit. It has a website on the flyer but it did not open. www.thebignastyoffroadpark.com

I would defer specifics to Twisted Wrangler, but I noticed REDBIRD SRA isn't listed and it's an official destination in Dugger Indiana. I've wheeled there about 5x in the past and I know Don has some.
Twisted--Sorry to put you on the spot, but I know you are the best person on this board to describe this place!
