Hello all. I was driving around town yesterday and came across a perdy white XJ for sale. I normally wouldn't of stopped (being as I just bought my TJ a year ago) but the price was right.... $5,000.00.
So I stop and check 'er out. Its a '99 Cherokee Classic - fully loaded, FULLY LOADED. Its got 128,000 miles on it due to it being towed behind a motorhome. Unfortunatly the windshield was cracked, the front fascia chipped and the headlights had chips in them too from rocks tossed up by the motorhome.
Think its worth $5k ?
Thanks.

That's probably about right. I paid $7K for my 99 Sport last year, but it only had 74K on it. IF it has ABS, it has the suck du jour Dana 35. If the rear axle is more flat, you have the near D-44 strength Chrysler 8.25 Would you lift/wheel it if you got it? Even with 100+K miles, it still has lots of life in it!

Well, if the rear axle is a 8.25 or D44 (did that year come with a D44 option?) then I'd swap it with the D35 in my TJ. The XJ would be a daily driver with minimal off-roading (only for camping/emergency reasons).
Unfortunatly, I was just told yesterday by my manager that I will be taking a $10k per year pay cut, so I think buying the XJ is out of the question now.
Thanks for the info Indy.

Sorry to hear that, Hipee. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif Terrible news, however, it's better than losing your job.
The XJ came with a D44 option from '87-'89 if my memory serves me correctly. Very rare to find one with it, however...

This news sucks! Unfortunately, it is all too common news... seems we can't send our jobs to Mexico fast enough.
I beleive if it has abs, its a 35.My '96 came with a 8.25, and the ins. co. deceided it had abs, and gave a discount for it,NOT! Too bad about the pay cut, keep voting republican guys, and we'll all be selling apples on the street cornners!

I think NAFTA came during Bill's watch. It just took a while for us to see the effects.

Well, when you're not making that much and you take a big pay cut like that AND your house payment goes up due to a calculation error on the lender's part, it hurts the jeep money....HURTS A LOT!!

Ouch Hipee! I can relate tho. Own my own biz, only been open about four months, and I'm always thrilled when I can actually pay myself. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

That does suck about your job hipee, but be glad you still have some income. Wachovia bought the bank I work for and my last offical day is Dec. 31. But I bought one anyway. They bank can't take it if they can find it!

I've been under an outsourcing cloud since September of last year and decision is coming down in July. Looks like if they keep it in house, they'll lay people off by Dec 31 or the option is outsourced and might be able to work for them...nothing is safe it seems. Between gas prices and rising cost of health car and taxes nickel and dimeing us to death...
