This thread has kinda died. Is anybody still planning on going? Is anybody gonna go camping at all? Anybody know the rates for camping?

If nobody is camping, I may just come up there for the day with my son. But if people are camping, we may bring some gear and set up.

My wife and daughter are going to the coast, and that is SO tempting... but my son wants to go offroading and try out the new lift. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Teddy
06-23-2005, 08:31 AM
Come on Paul! Everyone listed is still going. We are going to drive up on Saturday, so I can't help you with the camping info.

Mike, John and I are going to caravan to the cheap gas exit in KY. I believe its exit 86??, if anyone wants to catch up with us there and drive in toghether.

Paul E
06-23-2005, 08:47 AM
We'll probably just do the day thing and leave early on Saturday morning, do the dinner thing afterwards, then head home.

I need to buy some stuff for camping anyway, so next time I'd like to do a camping trip. Now if I could only find a free trailer! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

This weekend I think I am going to go to Brutons Branch near Pickwick Dam and check it out. A local guy said it has good wheeling and it is an hour and a half closer. If it looks like a good spot I will do a writeup and post some pics.

Teddy, exit's 86 OR exit 89 will provide "cheap" gas for you. Exit 89 actually has a Mickey D's , a Flying J station and a Pilot station. Both are pretty fair. Exit 86 will provide just a Pilot truck stop. Let me know which one you guys plan on meeting at and what time, and I'll meet you guys there. Both exits are right near my house. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tu.gif Saturday is getting closer, and I am excited as usual. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Landon ...
Exit 89 (if that is the first one inside the KY line) is where we stop. The one with McD's.

We try to leave exit 24 (off I-24 east of Clarksvile) around 7:30 ... then stop at that exit on the way up. So we should hit the exit around 8 or so.

If you want to meet there then we can all roll into Cadiz together.

I'm coming from Huntsville, so if we pick a time at a certain exit, I'll meet ya there and caravan up with ya. If I drive Saturday morning, I know my son will be hungry, so a Mickey D's in the area would be good.

I'll have my CB on Channel 4 as I get close too.

Teddy
06-23-2005, 11:49 AM
Paul,
If you want to me us at exit 24 (off I-24 east of Clarksvile) before 7:30am, you can ride up the rest of the way with us and then we can meet Landon at exit 89 in KY, get fuel, then meet Tom.

How old is your son? I think John's bringing his son.

Paul E
06-23-2005, 12:16 PM
My son is 15 and has hopes of driving the Jeep in the field before we start. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Don't the I-24 exit numbers start at about 89 or so? The Cadiz exit is #65 I believe.

This exit 24 is on what highway? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Teddy
06-23-2005, 01:31 PM
You definitely have to let him drive a little./ubbthreads/images/graemlins/woot.gif John's son is 12, I think?

Exit 24 is off of I-24 in TN. I believe you are correct about KY exits starting at 80 something?

mawardjr
06-23-2005, 01:43 PM
I-24 Exit 24 is the exit for highway 49 in TN. Coming from Nashville you'll hit that exit before you get to Clarksville.

The map below will show I24/H49 in the lower right hand corner. We will gas up at the first exit after crossing the KY border. This should be Exit 89.

OKAY ALL, Check it out...On I-24 coming west out of Nashville, the exits start high and work down, as you go towards the TN/KY line. Now pay attention close here... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif...Exit 24 on I-24 West is about halfway between Nashville and Clarksville. Exit 1 on I-24 is the last exit before the TN/KY line (thats where I live /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wave.gif). THEN, you cross into Kentucky. The FIRST exit in KY is exit 89 (the subject of much debate in this here post, which has a Pilot gas station. Now, I think there is a Mickey D's there, as part of the Pilot, but not 100% sure. What I am 100% sure of is that at the NEXT exit, exit 86, there is a full fledged Mickey D's (complete with a drive-thru), a Flying J/Conoco station and a Pilot truck stop. So, based on that, which one do you want to meet at? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Landon,
I believe the Mickey D's exit is the most popular choice and requested by Paul or his son .

Man that list grew. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I now have a co pilot. A good friend of mine, Allen is going to ride with me.

BobA
06-23-2005, 11:06 PM

I'll go to exit 24. So we're meeting at Mickey D's, exit 24 (Tennessee) at 7:30 am and caravaning up to TB.

Teddy
06-24-2005, 08:54 AM
Paul,

At exit 24 in TN meet at the BP there, 7:30 am. Then we'll ride up and get gas at Exit 89 KY side of I24.

Jim, I finally get to meet the guy responsible for my cool itsajeep sticker. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/hee.gif

A word about my co pilot Allen. Great guy, if you get a chance to speak with him, he's deaf in his left ear, but hears fine in the right ear. The reason I say this is because if you are on his left and he can't see you talking, he won't respond. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tu.gif

Clarification on directions.
Teddy and I are meeting John at I-24 Exit 24 between Nashville and Clarksville at 7:30 AM. Paul - sent ya a PM with my cell # just in case there are problems. Hope to see you here.

Next stop for us will be the first exit after the KY reststop which I believe is Exit 89. This stop has a McD's built into one of the gas stations. We will be meeting Landon at this point around 8:00 AM.

From there we will head up to Cadiz and then across to Turkey Bay. If we see Tom at the Cadiz McD's then we will stop and wait for him.

IF ALL THIS FAILS .....

Just meet at Turkey Bay around 9AM so everyone has time to setup their rigs and be trail ready by 9:30.

Can't wait to see all ya'll!!!!!!

Paul E
06-24-2005, 10:06 AM
My jeep is probably better known than me. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I want to get to TB early enough that I can let my son drive Kermit around the field a bit. He's never driven a real car before (lawn tractor and go karts don't count /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif) and I wanted him to try it in 4lo and 2nd gear. I know he's not ready to drive on a trail, let alone right behind somebody. I figure though that if he can learn to control a vehicle offroad, he'll be that much better onroad in the future. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I will try to post before 7:00 AM to let you guys know, unless I don't feel good enough to even get up and log on. Just go at 9:30 AM, Boys.

OK, Boys, I am up and at it (barely). Actually, I don't feel too terribly bad, but this thing I've got makes me cough, and when I cough, I hurt down in my lungs. I really ought to go get checked out (but not until after I get my wheelin' in /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif ).

And, Jimbo, you would have been fine without the old Tomster today, if I hadn't been able to make it. Mike knows the place real well, and Landon has learned a lot of the place by now. I'm sure you know more trails yourself than you are giving yourself credit for.

Hey, being lost is fun sometimes. You know after all the times I have been there, I still get lost once in a while.
