Has anyone had any experance with these chips? I was told that if you have over 100k miles b4 you add these type of chips things will start to go wrong? It wasnt too reliable of a source so i thought id ask you guys b4 buying one.
I have 107k on my wrangler.

No experiance, but it is something I have thought about. I already had my exaust re-done, getting a new manifold while I am deployed. I want to do a chip, Cold air intake, and a throttle body spacer! LEt us know how yours works if you do it.

I've heard more folks say 'snake oil' and 'money pit' than I have heard say 'great power improvement'.
Most folks that want more power will upgrade their axle gears.
You can get 4.88s for D30/D35 for around $250 apiece.
I have also talked with mechanics who say upgrading the Cam is another solid power-booster, but it is more involved and can get price.
Gears are your best bet....what size are you running now?
for power yes but I am also looking for better throttle responce.

Don't worry Fred, you'll get there.
Mark my words, 5 years from now we'll be looking back talking about the old days; and you will be running a 454 or bigger in your Jeep.
No doubt about it.
LOL I hope so, a fuel injected big block with full width Rockwells and at least 40's......yea now your talking!

Throttle response on the road or trail? If your running 32' with factory gearing on the road, I have to agree with dave and say gears. I'm running 33's with 4.11's and a 5 speed and my throttle response is a little lacking on the road. Now it's great on the trail but I have a 4:1 transfer case.
I agree gearing will improve the perfomance significantly, BUT I would like JUST A LITTLE more pep out of my 4.0, on road especially, but on trail too! I think a cold airintake, and throttle body spacer will make the differencr I want, also a new manifold to replace my cracked one! And then IF these chips do what they claim, maybe a performance chip to top it all off!
But I assure you 4.11's or maybe 4.56's are in my future! Probably 4.11's because I can find a junkyard 4cy and buy the axles cheaper than I can get mine changed out!

If you do a TB spacer and new airintake, and chip; I would bet 2 to 1; that you will get less noticeable performance gain than if you re-gear.
To do the prior things; will cost you more than to buy and install 4.88s.

So.......you're saying that with my 35 ProComps and my 3.73's I'll never see 5th gear again, huh? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/36_12_6[1].gif

I don't think anyone was saying you wont see 5th. After all, you just gotta look down at the shifter and you can "see" 5th right there. hmmm.... well actually you'd only "really" be able to see 5th if you open up your gearbox. Sooo you might not actually truely see 5th no matter what tires or gears you have /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/36_12_6[1].gif

With my 35s and 411s, the only time I can use 5th gear, is on a 4% downhill grade...even on flat-land, it looses speed.
At this point, upgrading to 488s is high on my to-do list.
Interstate travel is now 100% 3rd and 4th gear; with 3rd gear used to hold speed uphill and 4th to cruise with.
To hold 70 on the interstate, I use 3rd alot more than I use 5th.

Ummm dave with that engine you've got in there youd be better off swapping in a unit with more displacement. Your close to Murry arent you? Maybe you could run up there to the Brigs and Stratton plant and see if you can get a good deal on a pull start /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/brows.gif

Dave I agree with part of your statement. Gears will give me more power and a better feel of performance on and off road. BUT if I can get gears done for what I can get all the other stuff for...WOW! To buy gears and get them installed by a shop I am looking at around $125 for gear sets.....thats $250....then a minumum of $500 install price. Thats around $1250. I can get a TB spacerfor arounf $150 (high end) a Cold air intake for around $250, and a power chip for less than $50. That puts me at $450 on the high end! **** I can throw in a after market header for another $200ish, and I am still only looking at the $600-$700 neighbor hood. You can see prices are not comparable. BUT what I am saying is I wanna do both. and get even more out of my power gain!!!!!
