Hey guys!
I know I have been gone for awhile but I am ready to add a new front winch bumper and winch to the JK. I want a bumper that hides the winch behind it as much as possible. I would also like one of the new winches with an air compressor built into it but I don't want to block off the grill too much. I would rather not get the air compressor model if it blocks off a good portion of the grill. Any and all input would be greatly appreciated.

They do block off a good pit of the grill but I talked with someone that had one on a trail ride and they drove it all day on the trails with not heating issues.

ARB I think makes a bracket or this place (one off fabrication (http://www.oneofffabrication.com/oof-temp-002_003.htm)) to mount their compressor between the engine and brake master cylinder that is pretty nice and tucks it out of the way. Mopar has a pretty nice bumper, but it depends on what style you like. Gen right is also making a full line of aluminum bumpers and armor that is $weet.

Edit these bumpers are $weet also:

There are several companies that make front bumpers that allow the winch to sit down some for the JKs. If you are looking for a full width bumper the AEV is nice, if you are looking for a stubby I know LOD makes a good looking one.

All the guys that I know that are running the Power Plant winch by Warn have not ran into any cooling issues at all.

I don't even want to think about how much that bumper and winch together would cost. Big $

True. But when it looks that good you'll forget all about how much it cost. And focus on how kick @** it looks.

You mean while it's sitting in the driveway because of no money to put gas in to go wheeling??????:D

Looks to modern to me. I will stick with my $350 Poison Spyder bumper.... and a full tank of gas!

I have the Warn power plant (one with air compressor). I haven't had any heat related issues, but my air compressor didn't last long. If they are under warranty I am sure they would cover it and if I didn't submerge it into the creek all the time it probably would not have broken anyway. That said, if I did it again, I wouldn't buy the winch compressor combo. Now I am sitting with this gigantic winch that covers half my grill, half of which is useless. I believe I would have been better off getting a winch and mounting a compressor separate on one of the rear fender wells. Just my 2 cents.

One thing to note. It looks like it would be an issue due to how big it is, but the winch is vented so the air can travel through to your radiator. Obviously not as good as nothing in the way, but not as bad as it looks.

If you are just wanting to air up tires and such go with a CO2 bottle or the ARB under hood kit. That is they way I am set up and I have no complaints at all.

Thanks for your help guys. I really appreciate it As much as I want a winch and compressor combo I am really thinking going with a winch only at this time. Warn advertises it's compressor as being able to work with it, ie air tools, nailers, impacts, etc. I just don't know if I buy that or not. Looks kind of small to do any real work with it. Anyone have an opinion on that? If I don't go with the combo which winch is the best one to buy now? Would prefer one that comes with a synthetic line, and one that is good enough to stand up and last. I guess warn is still the best quality? Is 9000lbs big enough for a JK or not?

I just purchased the Warn 9.5ti, it is the power plant but without the compressor. A lot of my friends run it and it has a pretty fast pull. Of course the synthetic line is extra, but if you want to save some weight, it is worth it.

I have see a few of the power plants compressor part give out, not sure if that is from exposure to the elements or what, but I like have my compressor seperate. One draw back to having it under the hood it the heat. The connector can get quite hot when you want to connect the hose up.

i've got a Superwinch 95ti! its pulled a loaded 4door dually with a 24ft flat bed bed out of mud up to the axles! synthetic line is rated at 12000lbs! Go with something like that and an onboard air compressor and you should be set!
