Well it happened today out at TB. I had my neighbor with me and we went over. I dented the crap out of the window frame, hood. and both fenders. All the guys ran over and we put it back on its feet and drove off, with a jump from teddy. I wanted to say thanks to all for the help especially Mike Ward for his quick thinking when he grabbed the camera when everybody else just ran to the jeep without theirs. LOL.
Oh yeah and nobody was hurt so its all good.
I will get picks up as soon as they are posted.

Sure they did, you took all the fight out of the trail. They knew exactly how to do the trail because you showed them how NOT to do it /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/hee.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/hee.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/hee.gif

Theres the General on his side
So just curious, whe he went over and you all responded, did you designate 1 recovery boss like always reccommended so as not to have too many cooks in the stew. I assume recovery went well, qick and safe, but did everyone start saying do this and this? Or was one person in charge and he said ok you this, you that? Just curious thats all?

It happened much faster then that Fred. We didn't have time to debate...we just put arms and muscles on the General and flipped it back on 4 wheels as fast as possible. THEN the debate began as to how to get him righted back on the trail, as the General would not start then. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Fred,
We used the lots of cooks and one stew method. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
but it worked out. It took about 8 grown men to turn the "General" back over. Then Jeremy strap him backwards off the tree, since Mike and I had already gone down.
I just told Micah to quit showing off and get back on the trail./ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif It's really amazing how simple of a spot it was, nothing you would have thought a Jeep would have rolled on.
What effected the battery that it wouldn't start with out a jump? Or was it from probably being flooded from laying over it wouldn't start and from trying drained the battery?
Teddy
05-30-2005, 09:52 PM
I wonder about that as well about the battery. Do you think maybe it was the fact that it was a liquid battery as opposed to a gel, Optima type battery?

So exactly what happened? Did you have a front wheel climb a tree? That gully doesn't appear to be that deep. However, photos can fool ya.

I have problems with the jeep starting all the time. It has an alternator from a plymouth. my front drivers wheel dropped into that hole there and thats all it took. It was a bit of a drop but the hole was a hair to much for the "General".
So did your neighbor have to clean his/her pants after the flip?

Yep, his buddy was visibly shaken. I think it freaked him out when he landed in the driver's seat. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Poor guy, I think it was his first time wheeling.

Yeah it was his first time...lol. He had said before that that he wouldnt be scared until I flipped it. I think he jinxed me.

Neither one had thier seatbelt on so they were VERY LUCKY to say the least. It could have turned out a LOT worse than what it did.

I never wear a seatbelt on the trail but we are lucky no one was hurt. I dont know why I dont wear it out there but I never have. Maybe I will start from now on. Scott, the guy riding with me, is ready to go back out there. He wants to get a jeep
too.
Did you tell Scott that the idea is to keep the rubber side down?

No seat belt???? MICAH!
TJ Ron, one of the main posters on Jeeps Unlimited and a super good guy (although taken too seriously with some of his dry humor and disliked by some) was killed in a roll over last August. He didn't believe in seat belts. He sure loved wheelin'.

Seat belts are GOOD!!! I've been considering 5 point harnesses for my Jeep. I make sure both the kids have them. We are fortunate we can laugh about this now, because it was pretty darn scary when it happened. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/woot.gif

On a good note the wife says that now that its all tore up I have permission to do what I want to it as far as a lift and anything else. I am going to start saving for a long arm.
Teddy I too would like to have a 5 point harness in mine.

I now wear my seatbelt at all times. The main reason is I don't like bouning around in my seat. I got a harness even though I really do not need it so I have not put it in. A stock belt is plenty strong enough for anything anyone I know and wheel with needs.
Landon
05-31-2005, 09:34 PM
Yeah Micah, the whole seatbelt issue just needs to be rectified. We can't not have you wheelin' with us anymore...it's just too fun to watch you wheel /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
I thought about it and most of the time when wheelin I don't wear my Seat Belt. My wife does! I like to be able to move around and see out the door and such to see whats going on. IF I am an obsticle I am unsure of I do wear my seatbelt.
Micah

Well I will be wearing my belt out there from now on but if anyone sees me without it just smack me and remind me to put it on.

Well I guess when I rolled I cracked the windshield. When I was leaving work today I noticed a small crack and now its getting bigger. If I have to replace the windshield I will just replace the whole frame too. Man that sucks.
Teddy
06-03-2005, 04:44 PM
That does suck. I bet you could find a junkyard frame intact with a winshield. Try Salem Jeep Parts in Sounthern TN. He only has Jeep parts. I don't remember the number, but you can find in on the internet.
Looks like that tree didn't like ya rubbin against it.
