Sorry if I become annoying with my silly questions but ... it's a jeep thing, you all know... So, I would like to know which of the following ways of lift provides a better and safer ride (mostly on road). I know both are good enough for fitting 33s.

1. 2.5" OME lift + 1" BL
2. 2.5" OME lift + 1" spacer lift

Thank you all

Michalis:

If you get the Heavy Duty version of the OME lift, you might get the clearance you need for running 33s without doing anything else. You have the four cylinder engine, and if you also have the soft top, you will get more lift out of the OME than the nominal 2" by going with the HD version.

If a stock TJ can run 31's, then a TJ lifted 2" or more should handle 33's even better. You only need one inch more room to go up to 33's from 31's, since it is the RADIUS that matters for tire clearance, not the diameter.

You might not be able to disconnect your sway bar for off roading, if you do any off roading, with the 33's and just the OME lift.

Hey, I think it's cool that someone from Greece is into this "Jeep Thing!" Can you tell us a little about yourself and how you got into Jeeps? Are there lots of Jeeps in Greece? Do you know how their price compares over there vs. over here in the U.S.? Do you have some local Jeep buddies? Do you have good places to go "wheelin'?"

I'll check the "introductions" forum, but I don't remember your introducing yourself, or if you did, I don't remember your telling us much about yourself. Maybe you prefer your privacy, and that's fine, but I still think it is really cool to have a member from Greece.

With 2.5" of lift and 33" tires I don't think you won't be able to disconnect the sway bars without rubbing. Tom, you've got a 2" lift and 31" tires right? And doesn't yours rub a bit when disconnected?

Maestro, as Tom said, you might get more than 2.5" outa the lift with your jeep setup. I would say install the lift first and find out what clearence you have. Then if you need more I would go with the 1" body lift myself. Someone on here told me the spacer lifts can cause the ride to be stiffer and with a body lift you get some clearance between the body and drivetrain allowing for a little better cooling. Just my $0.02 worth.

Enjoy.

Yeah, I rub pretty bad when disco'd. Part of that is because of the backspacing of my wheels. I have 4" B/S vs. the 5.5" of the standard Jeep wheels. This makes my tires stick out more and catch the flares rather than stuff inside the flares. My bud at work has NO lift, and he runs 31 x 10.50's without rubbing when he is disco'd.

I have a 4" lift and 33x12.50's with 15x10 wheels w/3.75" bs. When disco'd I can still rub the fender flares on extreme flex. I have a friend with some 34x9.50 TSL's that would work well and not rub the flares at all. These things are about 75% tread too.
