Okay, I KNOW there are a bunch of writeups on this on the net, but since I've NEVER worked on a fuel system like this before, I want to be sure I don't screw it up.

I've read where take off the filler cap and all that stuff and how I have to cut a ziptie between the vent tube and the vapor tubes, but what I'm wondering is...

Besides removing the fuel filler bezel, what else should I remove to get easier access to the stuff I need to remove while dropping the tank? Do I need to take off the tub cover stuff so I can get my hands up in there to guide the filler tube up/down? What did y'all do in your installations to make it easier? When putting the tank back on, what specifically do you need to watch for and keep from pinching or kinking?

Any pics of areas you have to keep a good eye on would be great!

I have decided that I'll be using Loc-tite on all my bumper bolts. Since I put it on w/o dropping the tank, I figured now would be a good time to add a couple extra bolts and use the Loc-tite to keep those things on there but good.

For theKilby skdi you MUST drop the fuel tank! It actually replaces the factory sheet metal skid. You need to do all you said plus undo the electric wire to the gas tank, and the pressureized line from the fuel pump. It is actually a PITA! I did my skid WITHOUT doing all this and believe me it WAS NOT EASY! Good luck. Fred

Okay, my OME is here. My Kilby is STILL waiting (because I want to do it at the same time).

Anybody want to come to Huntsville this weekend (Saturday preferably) to help me install this stuff? I've got all the instructions and most of the tools I need (still need to pick up a right angle drill, a pickle fork thing, and spring compressors but that's it).

Having a second set of hands with experience with this stuff would be great! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

The Tank skid is easy. Mike W and I did mine in a little over an hour. My only recommendation is to wear saftey glasses because fuel in the eyeball really hurts /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smashfreakB.gif Sorry, I can't help on the OME lift. I will be driving through you neck of the woods on Sat, but I'll be in route to Florida. Good luck.

The lift install will be easy, ESPECIALLY if you have spring compresors, I had a hard time with my gas skid because I didn't disconnect the fuel line, I dropped the factory skid and worked around the fuel line!

How big a lift do you Paul? If it is just spacers or 2-4" springs you really don't need compressors. Unless you do it yourself then they will be a godsend. Tell ya what come to my house and help me empty the garage and I will help ya put that on...LOL (I am about 10 hours from ya...LOL)

Bill, it's a 2.5" OME. I may pick up the spring compressors, even if I do have help. Just another safety step in my book I think.

Got the bar pins in last night with help from dish soap and a C-clamp.

I have my own garage to worry about, thanks though!

I'm not expecting any REAL issues other than tight and hard to remove bolts.

Looking at how the TJ is, I think having the tank out for the rear will making accessing the rear shocks and track bar a LOT easier. Plus that gives me a chance to add some bolts for my rear bumper and use some loctite on all of em. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif Speaking of Loctite, should I use it on my shock installations? I thought about using the medium (blue) to make sure nothing comes loose, but I'm just wanting to make sure I should. OME's instructions don't mention using it. Y'alls thoughts?

Paul, the gas skid is a mod that I still have on my "to do" list. so take lots of photos for me. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif If you drive to Louisville, KY., I'll let you help me to my skid /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/hee.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/hee.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/hee.gif
