I am going to lift my Rubicon with in the next 6 months or so and I am thinking about going with the RE 4.5 long arm lift with 33's, but I also want to go with the 5.5 lift with 35's. How is the ride qualilty with the 5.5 for an everyday driver? How about the 4.5? I had, until about 6 months ago, a 2000 Jeep with a 6" Full Traction long arm lift with a 2" body lift and the ride quality was not good at all. Not sure if the 5.5 Rubicon Express lift will be any better.

I have the RE 3.5 lift, with 33x12.50s I have had nothing but problems since I installed lift (death wobble) cant seem to get rid of it. But I do not notice any diffrence in the ride.

I don't have any experience with TJ lifts, but I recently put a Rubicon Express lift on my CJ and it improved the ride quality.

You might check with Mark Turner w/ Rough Country. Gill can say that he sure helped with his problem. Not a RE, but Mark is super nice and will try to answer any questions you might have. He helped Gill out. Give him a call. The website is www.roughcountry.com. (http://www.roughcountry.com.)

OME has a 4" lift which will probably give more than 4" (my OME 2.5 gave me over 3.25" of lift). Not sure how high you wanted to lift, but Toys By Troy also has some interesting suspension components (alumiflex).

I'd go with the RE lift long or short arm but get the 4.5 kit with all the adjustable controll arms. The 3.5 kit doesent contain the adjustable arms. You will need them! I just put RE adjustalbe uppers on my jeep and am really pleased with the quality. I met a guy today that has the RE 5.5" Long arm on his jeep and he loves it. He had the Fabtec lift before that one and said he had problems breakin controll arms. I have a skyjacker 4" short arm kit and have had nothing but problems with the controll arms.

Gills the only one i'v seen that didn't like the RE kits.

I have the Superlift 4" with new lower CA's on the front. I have yet to have any problems with mine.

The controll arms come into play when you take out the t-case drop put in a CV style drive shaft. If you don't have adjustable uppers and lowers you cant get your pinion angle correct and you will have nasty vibrations.

Plus with a 4" lift w/o uppers you will probably notice that your rear tires are no longer centered in the wheel well. I just got uppers for mine and a new drive shaft. I was able to move my axle back about an inch and rotated my pinion angle to match the DS. And finally... no more vibrations. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I love my R.E. 3.5 Super Flex lift. No problems with death wobble. Not sure that Adjustable upper control arms would improve ride or not... it's pretty good as is. Not sure what will help correct Gill's problems. Gill, is death wobble your only problem, or do you have nasty vibes as well?

I run the Teraflex 3T lift, it landed me closer to 4", with 33's. I love it. It rides great. The amazing thing about this lift is my tires never leave the ground. The springs and shocks have a great range. I only wish it had come with control arms /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

In your case I'd look at the LCG from Teraflex. It's a 4.5 lift that allows you to run 37's with no rubbing. LCG stands for "low center of gravity" and that's a good thing in TN.

Gill,

Check your track bar mine comes loose all the time, especially after a wheeling trip.

Unless you are lifting the devil out of it (over 6 inches, maybe closer to 8) you can get buy with just getting upper rear adjustables...to fix your pinion angle for your CV shaft....some of it too; has to do with how your axle is aligned anyway...a stock axle has the spring perches, shock mounts, etc...aligned fairly straight....if you get an aftermarket axle where or a conversion where they weld new mounts on it; you can have them set the mounts to take into consideration the pinion angle height of a lift...then you just need to get longer upper CAs to get it lined up.

I am running about 6" lift in the rear with mine now (1" is body lift); and I have been running it with a SYE and CV Shaft for about 2 months now; without the longer arms...there is a little vibe around 45 mph; but even at 6" it is small. I don't have any tcase drop.

I have just ordered some NthDegree Mobility adjustable rears for $85 bucks; (the best price I have found for adjustables) so that I can do the belly-up tcase skid mod later this summer. I figure when I raise the motor 1" and if I need to push any of the stuff up in the tub to get the skid to clear frame-rail to frame-rail; it will be good to already have the rear upper CAs to dial the pinion back a little more.

Dave: Is this $85.00 each, or for pair? If pair, it is a great price! Best I have seen is approximately $200 for a pair. Whom / where did you order them from?

Why would you guys not MAKE your adjustables? I know not everyone has the technical ability to do it themself but I know most of us know someone who can.

I would say best bet is to go with RE 5.5 longarm great ride and nice on trail. Or for even better I think but alittle more money is Claytons Longarm. I have herd nothing but good out of this kit. Whatever you do dont go with RK kit nothing but bad out of them.

There is nothing wrong with the RK kits. Please post facts. The old company was run by a moron. It was bought out and under new management now. They have redesigned their kits and I run a 5.5LA for the past 2 year with no problems at all. So nothing but problems is not true.
