Hey guys, I have a 90 YJ built pretty good. I was considering doing this set up to the rear. Seems fairly easy, all you need is 2 stock YJ spring packs, 2 YJ spring plates, and custom bent u bolts. All you use off the spring packs is the main leaf and cut it 5 1/2 inches from the centering pin towards the large bushing. Bolt the end with the bushing to your factory shackle and the cut end to the frame above the axle with plate and u bolts. It looks to me like it acts pretty much like a terra flex shackle. I've read good and bad about this. Does anybody know anytihing about this kind of a set up? Any info would be helpfull. Thanks

I bet it would help with a higher ramp score.
If you think about the stress the axle is under when the jeep is moving forward, it seems to me the spring would be pulled down possibly causing wheel hop and a loss of traction. But maybe the articulation would make up for it.
It probably wouldn't be too big of a deal because you're always going forward, but I don't like the idea of the rear of my spring hanging so low and catching on rocks and such.
I would wonder if it would open up for more bounce and body role on the highway.

These are for trail only rigs usually. You still need to 4-link or 3 link with pan hard bar. It is cheaper than running air or coil over shocks, same principle though.

I think this is the set-up he is looking at.

Yeah, I read it would probally be more wheel hop, less traction, and another guy said it did give it more body roll. I have a total of of 6and a half inches of lift, 3 and a half suspension, 2 body and 1 1/2 boomerang shackles. It flexes descent as is but was kinda wanting a lil more ya know. I guess I'll pass on this idea but thanks for the input guys!

And yeah Denny, that is the set up I was looking at. Oh well, guess I'll pass on it.
