I'm just curious. I'm looking around on eBay for all the Jeeps... and their prices... question for you guys...
How much would you pay for a '92 YJ with a 4 banger? Good condition, a little under average miles, little to no rust?

Gonna get you a real Jeep that you can take the top off huh. Just playin man. I think the YJs are a good choice because they are in between CJ's and TJ's. CJ's are crazy expensive for a trail rig and TJ's are too **** nice (expensive also). The four banger would be a really good choice also. You won't have to worry about breakin axles.

Nah, just curious. The prices vary so much...
And does anybody believe in driving a Jeep anymore? Seems like nobody's concerned about anything but offroading. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eyeroll.gif

I DRIVE my Jeep every day..When we moved to the top of the mountain I knew that it was time to get rid of the cars..My Jeep is now my only means of transportation and I wouldn't have it any other way ..... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Marlon, I'm not exactly sure what you mean by "believe in driving a Jeep". For most of us here, I'm pretty sure that out Jeeps are out Daily Drivers. So yea, we all drive our Jeeps. Anytime I'm able to get my Jeep offroad though, I'm going to. Have to make sure the 4-wheel drive is in working order. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/brows.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tu.gif

Yeah, Marlon, I drive my Jeep. I drive it TO Turkey Bay and BACK from Turkey Bay. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
Seriously, I had Thelma Jane for 14 months before going off road with her the first time, and I said it then, and I say it now, she is THE MOST FUN vehicle I have ever owned, even on the pavement.

Marlon, my TJ was purchased with the idea of it being a toy. However, for the most part, it has become my daily driver. When it is just me and the Wife driving around (usually is only the 2 of us), the TJ is the preferred vehicle. One of my other vehicles is a 00 Grand with AC, Leather, and all the "Goodies". Yet, we prefer to drive the little TJ with nosy mud tires, rough ride, and all.
BTW, I wouldn't pay more than $2,500 to $3,000 for the YJ that you describe. Depending upon milage, an engine rebuild is probably in near future of the 4 banger.

Crap, I just thought of something....
My definition of "a little rust" might be a bit different than you guy's definition. Hmm, oh well. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
So, who said under $2000? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/woot.gif hehe.

Provided the "little to no rust" means only surface rust and the Jeep is really nice otherwise, I would pay over $2,600. However I would not go over $3,500. I paid $4,200 for mine, but it had a bad tranny at the time.

A '92 YJ S model? I wouldn't pay much for it. The only thing its got going for it is the fuel injection.
Now I don't mean to offend anyone here, but I had a YJ for 5 years. I started hating it after the first year. Problems? No, it didn't have any mechanical problems. Only had 19k miles on it when I bought it and 52k miles on it when I traded it in for my TJ. It was NOT a fun vehicle to drive on-road. Off-road it was okay. My TJ is a much better DD in my opinion.

If you are purchasing for a daily driver get a TJ. If you want a cheap start for an offroad project then a YJ is a good choice but I would get a six cylinder unless you plan to replace the engine.
