Hi everybody, this forum is really wonderful.
I own a 2005 TJ, 4cyl-6 speed. I have placed the old man emu lift kit combined with the teraflex 1-1/4 coil spacers instead of my stock rubber isolators. My final lift was around 3-1/2" to 4" which I love! I have two major questions:
1. It seems that I get some slight vibes at the beginning of second and third gears (around 30-40 MPH). Do I need to drop my T-case more than I have already done? Or should I try something else?
2. Am I going to destroy my shocks or anything else since the OME lift is supposed to give you only 2.5" of lift?
Thanks in advance, Mike.

You may benefit from a 1" motor mount to get rid of the vibes you have. You could also try using grade 8 washers on your TC bolts to lower it down in very small increments to see if that helps. If so then you could come up with a lil better way of doing it to get that much drop.
I think your shocks should be fine for the time being. Can't think of anything else there.

Thanks Bill.
I was thinking of buying the teraflex t-case drop which is appropriate for 3-4" lifts replacing the OME one. I guess It should help.

A MML/BL setup may benefit you more if you want to keep your clearance. A Motor Mount lift will have the same effect as a t-case drop, but w/o having to lose that clearance. If you do a motor lift but not a body lift, you'll need to relocate your fan shroud. This is why most do a body and motor lift at the same time.

I see. Well, I dont really want to go higher because I would have problems getting into my garage! Would it be better to remove the tera-spacers and add a BL instead?
Somebody told me that the BL affects the ride quality and increases the risk of roll-over. I actually drive my jeep every day and most of the time on the highway.
Is it for sure that an additional t-case drop will eliminate vibes or not?

Body lift actually keeps your frame lower than the coil spacers. Remember, the coil spacers lift everything up. The Body lift only raises the tub. The frame stays where it is. So it would actually reduce you risk of rollover, IMO.
It won't really affect your ride quality. If you get polyurethane bushings for a motor lift, you may feel the engine vibes more. That may be where you heard about a worse ride. As for body lifts, you generally want to keep them about 1" or less. Longer bolts have a higher liklihood of shearing in an extreme situation. Simple physics. Just use the right type of bolts and you'd be okay. But > 1" body lifts look kinda goofy, IMO.
In most cases, dropping the tcase eliminates it. Why don't you take out the coil spacers and run just the regular OME lift. I've heard of nobody having vibes with just the OME lift and no spacers. The coil spacers themselves may be the problem by giving you too great an angle.
You could also go the slip yoke eliminator route and do it that way, but that would probably be overkill for a D35 and 2.5L engine setup.
What size tires you running (in inches)? What size backspacing you have on the wheels? You may find you have more lift than you really need for the size tires you are running.

I drive on 32x11.5 for the moment and 3.75 backspacing. I now I don;t really need the extra lift for this size of tires but I love the look of my jeep with an extra inch of lift. Anyway, I might try the t-case drop for the moment and see what happens.

Question, Bill... why use expensive Grade 8 washers for this purpose? Why not use standard washers? There really isn't any stress on these washers as they are there as spacers..... right??? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif
