View Full Version : Flip it over?
What are the pros and cons of flipping my rear shocks (after market shocks) upside down? I understand this is common thing to do, in an effort to prevent damage to the rear shocks on major flex, when the axle can flex into the shock. How many people have done this? Is it worth the 10 -15 minutes it would take to flip my rear shocks?

Don they actually make a shock relocator for your axle to push the shock tube out away from the axle tube. You can bend the shocks during major flex, so this can help to prevent that. Of course you will have to buy the adapters to change how the top shock mount works. From the pin style to the single bolt running thru the end of the shock.
My shocks are the after market kind where I could mount them either way. I just mounted them like factory when I did my lift install.... so there won't be an major problems in pulling shocks, flipping pin from one end to other, then re-installing shocks.

If I ever do an axle swap I will be changing the way my shocks work. I will set them up the way shock work on portal axles. The bottom of the shock will be on the back side of the axle and to the outside end right behind the rotor. That way it cannot be torn off very easy.
