Not sure if you want a full width bumper or a shorty but Smittybilt has the best prices on front bumpers. They are still $300 to $400 though. You could save on shipping though and pick one up in Nashville. I love mine. Now they have them with a small stinger which i really like. I plan to add one to mine now.

Smittybilt will have the best price. Dont think they have a full width. LOD, Shrockworks, ARB, AEV are all super nice, but also super expensive. I have not seen an aftermarket bumper that doesn't cover the disconnect motor.

Yeah that is what I am finding out Jeremy. Most of them want another 250 on up for that. Watch out for Warn good price on the bumper but the winch mount kit is over 300 on top of the bumper. Right now of all places Jeep yes the stealerships have about the best price on the bumper, bottom skid and winch plate. Still high.

You know Turf you know what I am thinking on your suggestion:D . Rick the only real Jeeps are red in color!;)

If the JK is so expensive, why not fab something up yourself? Even if you have to pay a welder to weld it together, you may still save some $$

What about that prototype that Marine posted in his JK build thread?

I think the LOD bumper is one of the best out there, however none really cover the disconnect motor. Most offer the additional skid plate. Hanson makes a great one too, but pricey.

Gary, have you looked at the weight of some of the full bumpers? 100+lbs Here is a build thread, I don't care much for the stubby bumper but the rear bumper looks pretty cool.

Wow i love both those bumpers. I plan on adding a small stinger to mine tomorrow. Guess i will have to see about making a rear bumper now. My stock one is getting pretty beat up.

Gary if you need any help let me know.

You can mod the stock bumber and add the Rugged Ridge stinger with the harbor frieght winch plate. My winch is the Smittybilt RC 8000lbs.

LoD has a nice looking full width that just came out. I've been happy with my LoD mid.

Have you seen the Expedition One Trail series bumpers? Kinda pricey, but they have an optional sway-bar motor cover. Very nice. Nicest one Ive seen anyway. Ive seen the bumper for the FJ Cruiser and its extremely well built and sturdy.

Rugged Ridge also has the XHD bumper. Integral winch mount, and end caps that can be removed if you want to go stubby on the trails. I love mine....solid build, easy install, and ready for winch (once i get one). also uses factory fogs, another +

For a JK, check out UnderCoverFab's new JK bumper. Saw it in action at Stony Lonesome a few weeks ago. Great mount for the winch to keep it protected AND keep it from blocking the grille.

They have frequent sales too. :) And he has it in aluminum.

Not much sense in buying a bumper without sway bar protection unless you can make a skid yourself. Replacing a damaged JK sway bar would more than pay for the extra feature. The cheapest that incorperates the sway protection and keeps the factory lights runs around $850 plus about $100 shipping. That one is a full bumper though. If would consider moding mine for off-road I will not go cheap on this option.

You don't offroad any more!! Yours and Dons offroading days went away with the horse and buggy

Never had a "Buggy", but gave my horse away when I moved to the "Big City" 15 years ago. The only time I go off roading now is when someone more agile than me can go with. Activities like changing a tire are more tenous now that the wrist I damaged driving my CJ into a tree three years ago is only about 50%. I can still pull a winch cable to hook Don up to a tree though (like I have done many times)!:D

When I had the JK I went with the Mopar winch bumper and had great luck with it.
