Well I decided to go ahead and get regeared and locked front and rear. Getting the Superior Axle Super 35 Kit and Detroit lockers front and rear. 411 gears to replace the 307s. Supposed to get them installed next week so I should have them available for the next weekend. I plan on coming up on Friday night and wheeling all weekend to try them out.

Tom you are right about having a different jeep. The lift, tires and now gears should set me up for lots of fun this summer!

why not go with 4.56's? It costs the same and since yours isnt your daily driver, i would really encourage it.

Well, fact of the matter is my wife loves to drive it around town and I don't want to be in a situation where I might drive it on the interstate and not be able to flow with the traffic. I think I will be comfortable with the 411s since they should give me a little more torque on the tires than I had BF (before lift). If I want to go bigger later I will want to swap axles anyway. These are my thoughts at least.

LEt us know how the 4.11's perform! I think I decided 4.56, BUT if 4.11's do you right, I MAY just change my mind!

You are going to kick yourself for not changing them out sooner. I've been driving around with my rear axle, regeared and locked for a little while now and I love it. I went with 4.11s also, but just because it's my daily driver and 4.11s were pretty easy to find used.

My wife drove my jeep right after we got the locker and she cussed me, until she figured it out./ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smashfreakB.gif

As far as performance with 4.11s, I can now fully use 5th gear on the interstate and accelerate if necessary. It turns about 2600 rpms at 80 mph in 5th. It turns 2300 4th at 55 mph. Your clutch will love you also, I don't really have to use mine as much, since the Jeep will pull with out giving it the gas. Oh and did I mention I just got 20 mpg /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/hee.gif, my Jeep just went 300 miles on a tank of gas.

You are definitley going to love it /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tu.gif

Well I am at 3.07 now, and I have an AUTO! But I still think 4.11's would be a HUGE difference for me, mostly because the same reasons.
1. It is NOT a daily driver, but it is a driver. I LOVE taking it out on top down sunny days and cruising. I do take it to work on occasion.
2. I can do 80 now with 32's and 3.07's, but fuel milage is shot to ****, I think 4.11's will improve this significantly, but still allow some excellent offroad perfomance.
3. There are guys now on 3.73's and 31's and even 33's going EVERYWHERE I would want to go!
4. 4.11's are easy to find SLIGHTLY used, and at a super low price!

So that I do not highjack the thread.....I think you will be quite happy with 4.11's mostly because of improved fuel econamy and a much better low range over 3.07!

Teddy I can not believe you got 20 MPG with 33s, 4.0 and locked! That is great! I hope I get those same results!

I am absolutely loving 4.10's and 31" tires.

Long story, but I did start with 3.07's and now after regearing and adding ARB's(among other things) the Jeep is now performing on and off road better than I could imagine.

Acceleration, lower crawl speed, have improved big time.

Gas mileage might not have really improved, unless you have recalibrated the speedometer for the new gears or unless you are allowing for that in your calculations.

I'm runnin 4.11's and 33's and I'm happy. Highway milage is better crusing 70-80mph then 65mph with 4.11's

Read the tags on front and rear axles and they both start with 3 07.

I know I wish I would have went with at least 4.56s with my 33s. It works well for mud and such but I would like alot lower for the rocks. You have that 4 to 1 case /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif so I am sure that combo works great.

Hey Farmdog congrats on the lockers. They will open up a whole new world of going new places and breakin parts /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/brows.gif What size tires are you running?
