Jeff and will be leaving about 4AM Saturday. We will stop and eat breakfast and show up around 8AM to claim a campsite. We should be in the parking lot around 9AM I guess. We will look for a spot in TB camping area and will have our CB on channel 4.

Landon

David it would be great to get together. I have read some of your TN offroad info and I would love more intel. about more places to offroad in tennessee. TB is great but if there are some areas that are closer I would like to explore those as well.

For anyone who hasn't left yet, the Old Tomster is in a holding pattern. It is raining here, and the radar shows that there is rain all the way to TB and beyond. I am going to be late, if I show up at all. Want to go, but will have to wait until this weather moves out. We'll see how late in the morning that happens, but there might not be enough of the day left to make it worth my trip.

Looks like the bulk of the rain is above the KY/TN line; and will be out of the area by 10:00 or so...I'm on my way up for a fun, mud-challenging day.

Tomster
05-14-2005, 06:57 AM
Rainman! I had forgotten that you were coming up. NOW I know why it is raining!!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Tom, I'll have you know that from 9:35 until after 3:00 it didn't rain one drop at Turkey Bay!

(The sunshine did gouge tires today, I got a sidewall puncture on my front passenger tire...just the excuse I was waiting for to upgrade to 35s)

Tomster
05-14-2005, 06:57 PM
Well, it sure rained a LOT of drops here at my house. Crap, it rained off and on all morning, and when I talked to you and thought it was done with, I was wrong... it rained again. I think it was 12:30 PM here when we finally had the last of the rain.

Tom, next time you gotta believe us when we say "it isn't raining here". The sun was out by 10:00 am and we had a great time!

Dave, I had a good time wheeling with you. Look forward to doing it again. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tu.gif

That is soooo surprising to hear that it didn't rain past 10:00. It rained here, 50 miles west of TB, until around noon. We got at least 3 inches of rain since Friday night.

Dave Taylor

It was on and off overcast most of the morning; and at one point around 11 or so; we all stopped and pulled off our soft-tops because it had brightened up so much...then around 11:30 it started to get real dark and ominous in the sky over towards the west toward the lake; and we stopped again and put our tops back up...but in never started to rain.

Other than soggy trails from the prior nights rain; it was a perfect TurkeyBay day.

Hey Guys, were there many people there for the JJ? I suspect that a 100 or so additional Jeeps on the trails might have made the trails a little sloppier (spell?) than normal. Last weekend in April it had rained like a monsoon the week before, yet the trails were pretty dry compared to what I had expected. I guess all those hills dry out real quick. Also, the tree cover is such, most of the rain never makes it to the ground.

Landon

Don, the JJ is next weekend... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif
