If you are on the trail yes. If you on the trail with a group, definitely.

On the trail, a CB is a MUST HAVE item in my opinion. Cell phones are worthless. Without a CB you can not receive important information from trail guide such as "watch out for.....", or "man was that slick & scary"... Go to Wally World and get the compact CB they have http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=10603634 for approximately $50.00..for what we do, you do not need an expensive CB. I personally have this CB and it works great!.. Go to Pilot Truck stop to get the 3 foot Firestic antenna, coax etc.,. When mounting antenna, it only needs to be a couple inches higher than your roof line for what we do... any higher and you will just knock it off in the brush.
I feel confident that you will find that a CB will be money well spent and probably pay for itself on your very first offroad trip.

CB's are just as important as tow hooks and winches. Many times, the CB will prevent you from needing those hooks and/or winches.

CBs are important if you want to hear what is happening.
Some people, like me, don't say much...... we just listen! :)

Imagine Don driving, entering a waypoint on the GPS, shufting gears talking (constantly) on the radio and chuging his "Trail Mix",.....................all at the same time.

And they MIGHT come help! Or not....

Big diference between multi-tasking and just plain doing too much. Of course, this a moot point since this year you haven't been doing much more than "Mall Crawling" talking offroad.

The best way to learn how important they are, is wheel with one for a while, then turn it off one day while wheeling.
You won't be able to stand NOT getting the information you're used to getting when you DO have it.
That's how we all feel if we ever have one quit on us during a run.

I didn't think you could even purchase a Remanufactured unit for $75.00. That is a good deal.

I bought mine years ago for 60 bucks brand new, wild how stuff gets expensive. Of course they came out about the time I got mine, I guess they thought they were not going to sell many and then the market went boom.
