A couple of questions...I got your email about moding the new forum...but a couple of weird things are going on.
1) When I try to edit a post that has html in it; when I preview it; or if I change it; it does not render the html...it puts it out as regular text.
If I do a 'new' post, it works fine; but it won't render when 'edit'ing....either my own posts or someone elses.
2) On some posts that I try to delete; they delete and disappear as you would expect.
But, on some posts, they just clear out the wording and say, 'delete by Dave Taylor'...but the post doesn't go away.
I would like to be able to delete all posts out of my thread, except the one with the template.
Likewise, I would like to do the same to Fred's thread, and also be able to edit his first thread (which has his name and signature on it) and add the template I made for him to it...then delete all the other posts.
Any ideas?
p.s. Can you either tell me, or send me a PM telling me how to do stickys on posts; to keep them on the top? I would like to make a post for the new section explaining what the instructions for what folks need to do; so that I can make them a template..for when folks start catching on to it; and wanting to add theres like Fred and I have done.
I might also like to add a sticky for suggestions on changes or problems with the templates...at least until we get the kinks worked out.

That's normal... That's so you can edit the HTML.

You have to delete everything in the Subject and Post text areas in order for the post to disappear. (At least, that's how I've been doing it.)

Marlon,
I see you point about 'editing' post (which have html)
Surely however, there is some way to 'edit' a post that has html in it; and then have it 're-render' it.
It shouldn't be any different than when you start a new thread for the first time...you are editing; but when you preview or post it; it renders it then.
I will try your 'delete' trick.
Also, did yall see my question about stickies? I may have added it too late fo you to see it.

Marlon,
I tried your delete trick and it kinda worked.
I was able to delete my original thread; and I was about to delete some of Fred and Gils side-posts in the new forum...but a couple of my side-posts still wouldn't delete...really strange. I will try it again, but if you see some that show I have tried to delete them; and they are still there, see if you can delete them.

I'm jumping into the middle of this without knowing for sure what's going on, but if there is more stuff that needs to go than what needs to stay, maybe just deleting the whole forum and starting fresh is the answer??? (have only read this thread and have not even gone to the new section yet)

As far as re-rendering the HTML... I just tried that, and it worked.

Heh, looks like the new update Gill installed fixed the delete issue. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tu.gif Good job!

I still can't get it to re-render on an EDIT.
Fred sent me some new updates to his template; and I couldn't edit the existing one; when I previewed it; it showed as text; not rendered html.
I just deleted the entire thread; and posted a new one; and it worked fine...that may be the way I end up doing them.
One thing I did notice; and maybe Gil can look into this.
When I do a 'new' post, there is a dropdown box that lets me pick between: UBB Code, HTML, UBB Code & HTML, and No codes.
But, when I do an 'edit' to a post; that dropdown box doesn't show up then....if Gil can make it show up during an 'edit session' I think that will solve all the problems.
Look into that and see what you think.
Also, browse the Guidelines post I made; and be sure there isn't anything I stated in there that you have a problem with or want me to change.
I ended up creating to 'stickied' threads for members to post either their submissions/mods to; or to post their comments on the read rig entries...and I plan to lock each reader-rig entry so that it can be Display Only.
You can kinda get an idea from the ones that are in there now; but you guys need to get me your specsheet too; so I can get you in there!

...bump...
Gil,
Any idea on why I can't edit HTML and then resave it and it keep the format? You would think if the original post can have a dropdown to allow HTML, then the Edit feature should also be able to have that turned on...
Also,
I went through the Jeeps-Peeps Submission thread, and tried to clean-up (delete) all of the old submission request threads...but all it did was keep the old posts and put a 'Deleted by Dave Taylor' message on them. Any reason why it is doing this, instead of actually deleting them?

I will check on ques # 1 and on # 2 it does it with me too. There is a new version comming out in a few weeks maybe this will fix the delete problem.

In the edit page, if you erase the subject line, post body, and uncheck all the checkmarks, the post no longer shows. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
