Well I am headed to the dealer tomorrow to trade in my rubicon for a Unlimited Rubicon, the only think I dont like about it is that it has the Sahara package with a "chrome" grill.. I even hate typing that word.. It should be against the law to put chrome on a jeep.. I asked them if they could paint it /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

If you dont want the chrome grill, why dont you just get a 2006 rubi unlimited without the sahara package? Or is that package the one you want, just not the chrome grill?

Anyways, I hope this one looks just as nice as your '04 does.

Long story I have 39 K in my rubie (too many mods), they only will give me 20 K, I owe more than that, etc. etc. etc. I called them back to see if they could do any better.

Yeah, Gilly, it's a shame, but mods actually TAKE AWAY from the trade-in value of a Jeep. Try to sell that puppy yourself. You can really do some dealin' without a trade-in.

I just found out the "Sahara" what not what I was thinking.. I was think like the white Sahara I had.. not the movie.. I told the salesman that it did not have many Sahara features, except painted flares... Oh well.. and that package is 1400 $ for a decal ??

An unlimited needs to be jacked up in the air with the soft top too even look good, they are just so weird at stock height, in my humble opinion.

Yep, the Unlimiteds really need a decent lift (starting at 3") with 33 or 35's on em. Soft top or no top helps. I've seen hard cab covers to give it a Scrambler kinda look that would be nice.

If I get one I am not doing a lift, that is why I am getting rid of this one. I cannot get rid of death wobble.

I'm pretty new to the Wrangler world, so you can disregard anything I say. Nevertheless, I have opinions!

I think all Unlimiteds look great with the hardtop, whereas the short wheel base looks a bit awkward that way. Conversely, the Unlimiteds look a bit awkward with the softop and regular TJ's look perfect. They both look best with no top, of course .

I'm really scared by people putting lifts on their Jeeps because they look better. A Jeep at stock height is already more dangerous than a typical car--or even most trucks. A lift only makes it much more so, unless you increase your track by twice the lift height. A lift is a serious increase in capability for folks getting bigger tires and really using it off-road. I think too many buyers get lifts just to massage their egos.

I'd rather ride with Gil.

Looks are strictly personal preference, and I am truly grateful that we don't all like the same thing. Just imagine every vehicle out there being the same make and the same color! YUCK!

I like the Unlimited just fine with or without a lift. Of course, ANY Jeep looks better lifted with bigger tires.

With the lift, you generally go with bigger/wider tires (in time). Some people opt for wheels with less backspacing, sticking them out further - this is to avoid tire rubbing issues while driving and flexing, but also has the benefit of widening the stance to give stability.

GILL my unlimited rubie has a 3" lift w/ 33's .The ride is a whole ton better than the short wheel brother , but after the lift and tires i do see the jeep does not like to stay in its own lane in the freeways ,likes to wonder a bit .The 6 speed won my affections !The top issue , hummm well its not even summer here yet and we almost hit 100 ahhh the second week of may,so just for the AC factor the top may stay on , then again who knows .I do notice when the windows are down, the jeep tracks on road a whole lot better and no wind blown jeep wondering from lane to ruts in road to lane etc . So maybe a top removale helps. Other than that the vehicle is awesome .I was also surprised w/ the windows up , stereo on 12 i could hear nothing outside .Even w/ no tunes very minor wind noise like .03 on a 1-10 scale .I did hear a rumor that the 07 line may not have the unlimited , so will this go the same way the scrambler did a short run ???

Scooter-- You got to work on that Unlimited pretty fast! As I recall it is almost new. I'd love to try out a rig like yours for myself.

As for the '07, we've probably all heard and repeated the same rumors, but my understanding is that the new Wrangler with have both two- and four- door versions. The four door will probably obviate the need for an Unlimited edition. It probably has a longer wheel base. Isn't it fun to speculate?

Dennis , a 4 door jeep in wrangler form and style ? That would be like a corvette 4 dr and wagon version .Some things should not be messed with too much and the base jeep is one of them .whats next , a farrari mini van ?
Ya know when i first saw the regular rubicon i almost bought it in o3 , then heard the rumors of the scrambler like jeep comming out ,i had buxs in hand .Yet again i was told about the rubie unlimited version , best of all world s and said i doubt it can get better .
After all that time waiting , i read and test drove "DID MY HOMEWORK" .One statement kept comming up ,"all that needs to be done is a 3-4" lift and 33's and thats it your jeep is done go play . so thats just what i did.Ya know they were all correct {so far} knock on wood ,cross fingers etc . Glad it worked out now all i have yet to do is some simple bolt ons bumper , skid plates , tire carrier etc .
