Nice kit, but wow thats expensive for a DIY.

The Poly Performance cage is $1,300.00.... it is a nice cage, but $1,300 is a chunk of $$. The Bluetourch cage can have add ons and still cost less than the Poly kit.

can you still use the standard Jeep TJ hard top with this cage? or will the top go out the window with this setup?

IIRC this is the DIY cage design based on the cage built for the solider in Dallas whose TJ was vandalized and for whom BTF held the Fabstock this past winter.

Shipping will be the slap. $1000 for a full 6 point cage that does not reuse any of your original cage isn't a bad price. For just my Sport Cage that was full weld in and basicly a custom cage but it used the rear section of the existing cage cost me over $400

This is a great price Dan. Don't let these guys low ball ya...LOL Like Fred said this is a full replacement. I got my add-in cage from Brent and the installation would have cost more than the cage itself but I did the install.

Does this cage allow you to retain the factory door surrounds so you can still run your full doors and soft top? ...maybe just drill the holes for the surrounds?

Yes you can still use them. You do have to make a couple simple mods to them. This cage will work with a hard top and soft top.

I guess you have not priced DOM tube nor factored in the cost of overhead to operate a business. This is a complete replacement cage. You are entitled to your opinion.

I wish I could afford one... I wish I could weld. :)

A cage is DEFINITELY on my list to take care of at some point...

I can say that I've seen BTF stuff up close on rigs I've wheeled with and it is VERY nice stuff. Today, more than ever, you get what you pay for it seems. Factor THAT with the cost of metal/steel nowadays and it can run up there real quick. if you don't like the price or quality of a product, you can feel free to shop other vendors. But let's not cloud vendor threads up with sales pitches from other vendors. If you want to promote another product, please start a different thread.

We all have a choice in what we do with our Jeeps, so feel free to post options - in other threads. Variety IS the spice of life!

If I had the money or skill, I'd love to support my Alabama economy with BTF stuff!!!

Dan, how is the Texas soldier liking the results of Fabstock? Has he wheeled it yet or has he redeployed?

Viktor liked the Jeep. I have not talked with him about the Jeep. I have been slammed here at the shop trying to keep up with all of the work we have. From what I understand he is done with the Army now. He is attending college in TX to be a doctor.

We can still ship the cage via UPS. We are looking at offering a fully welded version of the cage for those without welders.

I wouldn't think truck freight rates would be that bad for a welded cage... I shipped an axle from Utah to Kenucky a few years back and it wasn't bad at all.

PaulE, you could just drive Kermit down and have Dan install the cage for you since you are so close to him.

If I got a welded cage, I'd drive to B-ham to get it. :) But I'm only up in Huntsville.

You guys want any apprentice welders to train? :) hehehe

I visited the shop last year and it is huge. I got a grand tour like I was a VIP and I didn't even buy anything. I think the cage is a good value if you add in the cost of:
bendtech software +
tube bender +
tube notcher +
wasted tubing from bad bends +
one million hours of wasted time cursing at trying to bend properly.

This is def on my wish list and the reason I bought a welder. Paul, let's go pick up a kit and we'll install it together in your Jeep!!! :)

Yes, I have priced DOM and it is expensive. I also know that it takes $ make payroll and pay for overhead, I also know it takes a profit to make it worth keeping the doors open also. With that said I also know what guys are paying to have a nice custom built cages installed also, thats why I was shocked that a DIY kit was so much plus shipping.

I'm not trying to bash you or your company, I wish you the best of luck in selling these kits.

I am taking it as a bash on me and my company. I really dont see the need for your little rant on how you think something we offer is too expensive in my vendor related post. I dont go in other vendor's threads and tell them something is too expensive and start posting up other places to get product. I personally think it is in bad taste on your part. I know BTF product is not for everyone. The same can be said for a Mercedes. Not everyone can afford one or justify the cost. Not everyone drinks an import beer... some drink Pabst because it is cheaper. For those looking for quality, and a company that will stand behind what they sell then BTF might be the place for them.

If you know so much about operating an offroad shop and making one successful lets here the name of your shop.

You should really make a trip back over. We have our showroom open now. We have a lot of different projects going on in the shop that might make the trip that much better. We are prepping the KOH comp buggy for the Vegas to Reno 1000 mile race coming up in August. I guess I should post up some pics of the changes we are making to the car since returning from KOH. Some of the stuff is kinda like Area 51 top secret stuff. HAHA but we would show you anyway. Might not let you take pics though.

If you guys want to make a trip down let me know. We may have a Jeep in the shop installing one of the cages.

LOL that would be the way to do it. have someone drive down with you, split the cost of the cage, then drive back home with you and help install it. Now that is a true friend. Wish I had some of those. LOL

Wow, I'm sorry you took it that way. I thought I was allowed to express an opinion in an open forum, I never said you were trying rip anyone off or made a personal attack towards you or your company, nor did I say anyone would be an idiot for paying an outrage price for this product. I simply stated "wow thats expensive for a DIY" and then I responded to your attempt to call out my ignorance about the cost of materials and costs of operating a business, been there, done that.

Obviously I"m the only one that has spoke up to say "I think the price is a little high" and there are others here that think the price is a good deal. So if you can't take a little "rant" about someone thinking your price is a little high then don't respond like an ***** to it or just don't post it.

BTW: I have ordered some parts from your company in the past, they were nicely built parts for a decent price.

Guys, I've removed those posts.

I said it once, and I'll say it again. You don't like a price from a vendor - fine. Don't bash them in their thread. If you know a better deal, great, post up ... BUT IN ANOTHER THREAD.

That's not me being a mod. That's just me encouraging you guys to be respectful of each other.

Dan is a top-notch guy and runs a top-notch business. He also happens to know a heck of a lot about Jeeps and offroading. He has lots of great information to share, even if it is not about a product he may or may not be selling. Even I have called him in the past to talk about a couple of things - complicated to me, but probably mundane and boring to him - yet he treated me as a valuable customer.

If you guys have issues with his pricing, PM him or call him directly. Issues or questions about a product or its quality, ask em here.

Guys, I've removed those posts.

Here we go again IAJ censorship at its best. Someone gets their pink panties in a wad and the "powers that be" play almighty mod and remove post. I call ********! You might a s well close it before someone gets their feelings hurt.

He said WOW !!! "that seems high for a DIY". Never bashed anything.
