Ive owned a GC for several years and luv it but the ownership of a wrangler is something completely different to me. I have set aside the GC and use the wrangler for my job which can mean as much as 120 miles driving somedays in the Dallas/Ft Worth Metroplex area. Needless to say somedays I see many wranglers and cj's. I have really enjoyed the fact that sooo many of these owners wave at least 80% in my experience. Last friday i waved at least 15 times, lol. When i grew up in east texas everyone waved at everybody when driving but thats long gone in the city. Its nice to get that wave, kinda like we have a small brotherhood when it comes to jeeps and brings back memories of my youth in east texas. My wife laughed when i told her about the jeep wave said i was seeing things /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif until she started driving it more herself and said i was correct other jeep owners do wave, LOL...... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wave.gif

Living in the mountains of NC, everybody still waves at everybody else (no matter what you are driving)and when I get out on the highway just about every Wrangler owner waves to another..

I get it here too, In northern TN/Southern KY, every wrangler owner I drive by when i'm in my wrangler waves, it's like a "nice jeep" wave or something!

The Jeep Wave is common in Louisville..... at least common among the Jeep informed. Unfortunatelty, we have some people who use their Jeep as basic transportation and simply do not have a clue about the "It's a Jeep Thing". /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/td.gif I say if you are too stuck up to do the Jeep wave, it's time for you to sell your Jeep. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif

Hey, I support the Jeep Wave BIG TIME! I feel AWFUL if I am daydreaming and realize too late that I just met another Jeep. I have sort of a radar for other Jeeps, and I have to be really deep in thought or somehow distracted to miss one. I always wave and always expect a return wave.

Shortly after I got my Grand Cherokee in 2000, I noticed that my neighbors didn't wave at me as I drove down the street and waved at them...... then I remembered that I tinted all the windows and they couldn't see me waving.... Duh.. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif

I have the wave so bad that I wave at all motorcycles, jeeps, lowrider trucks, and hot rod imports. No matter what I myself am driving...LOL I am sure that the ppl I wave at tend to wonder who or what I am doing.

I get the Jeep wave simply because I'm about the tallest XJ in my neck of the woods. Someday, I'll have a TJ to complement my XJ...someday, lol!

There's bunch of Barbie Jeeps in my area. I still wave, but usually don't expect one in return. I wave at all Wranglers, even the stock, (disturbing) ones and Cherokees that look like they wheel.

I have noticed that nearly 99% of all built Jeeps; whether Wranglers, CJs, or Cherokees....will wave.

Similarly, any 'old' Jeep, Pre-70s, will wave.

About the only time Jeeps don't wave; is when they are stock; and the drivers don't 'know they are Jeeps'...but just another car. (They haven't figured out the Jeep thing)

Keep waving at them though....they'll learn.

I will wave to any jeep wrangler stock or not. But I only wave to cherokees, GC's, and Libby's that either, A) have a lift on them, B) has a good deal of mud on it, C) both, or D) they wave to me first.

Jeep Prejudice! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/hee.gif

I got a wave from a TJ owner the other day.... first Jeep wave in months. I don't even see TJ/YJ owners waving at each other.

I try to wave at all Wranglers regardless of which Jeep I'm driving, but like Tom said sometimes I get distracted. According to the Jeep Wave rules, I tend to initiate the Wave simply because in most cases I have the inferior Jeep. However, even among Wrangler owners, the return Jeep Wave is rare around here. Most people just look at me as if asking themselves "Who the he!! was that???"

When I rode bikes, I got more waves from HD riders!!

i wave at everybody. I even wave at ppl sitting on their porch when I drive through the country. Funny thing is they wave back or sometimes wave first.

I found the Rules for the Jeep Wave on the Jeep Jamboree Canada web site...

Be sure to pass this on to your Jeep Friends:

OK, I did a quick search of the internet for Jeep wave definitions and came up with 2 good examples. The 1st is relatively easy to follow the 2nd may require a calculator.

(From Jeepinwave.com web site)
Jeepin' Wave Rules
These rules are an attempt to make it easier to facilitate the mandatory wave when coming in contact with another vehicle of the Jeep nature. Though there are several variations of the waving rules, the following were designed as an easy to remember guideline for when to wave and who should wave first.

Rule 1:
If you are a driver or pbumenger in a Jeep vehicle, and you come in contact with another occupied Jeep vehicle you should wave. If the vehicle is not occupied, the wave is optional.

Rule 2:
Be the first to wave. Don't wait, just wave.

Rule 3:
Be forgiving. Sometimes the occupants of the Jeep receiving the wave are not paying attention, distracted, or are paying attention to driving. We all know how you can get lost in the euphoria of driving a Jeep and forget about the outside world.

Rule 4:
Wave vigourously. When cruising at 55mph towards a vehicle going 55mph it is sometimes difficult to see the 'over the steering wheel' wave. Get that hand out and make it seen!

Rule 5:
When you are the recipient of a wave, return the wave.

Rule 6:
Sometimes Jeep owners forget they are not in their Jeep and wave by habit. When occupants of non-Jeep vehicles wave, returning the wave is optional, but usually a good idea.

You can use the Jeep Moon but only as you pass a Hummer.

If you pull one out make sure you make them take photos as their penance.

There was a video running around the Internet (maybe here) a while back showing where a guy drove a Hummer to Camp Jeep and got it stuck in the parking lot on a small tree stump. A Jeep had to pull him off it. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/36_12_6[1].gif

in NM, the jeep wave seems pretty dead except for those that have modified their jeeps. they always wave. the mall jeepers never wave or they look at you funny when you wave at them, maybe thinking "Do I know him?".

What's even more funny about that video; is that 3 of the H2s wheels were still in the parking lot; and just off the edge of the parking lot; within a couple feet of the H2 was a port-a-john.
