View Full Version : tandem axle trailer
I have a 16ft tandem axle trailer for sale. I used it to haul my TJ and now that i have a little one and no time in the near future to wheel or finish my project, i would like to sell it.
I will get some pics up.
It has 2 6000lb axles, takes a 2-5/16 ball, no brakes
has ramps, also has removable sides so it can be used as a utility trailer.
Tows great.
$1200.00
thanks

Dag gum it Tony, that baby isn't going to keep you awake at night forever.... I know 6 -8 weeks without sleep will make a feller think he will never get a good nights sleep, but there is no reason to be selling off the toys.
not selling the toys off, just the means to haul it for now. It will still be street legal. If i need another in the future i will find one. But for now it can be used for parts! Still have alot to buy before it will be on the road.

Soooooooooo, are you taking the XJ back to street legal? I just gave away the 8.25. If you need help, just yell at me.
it is still licensed and legal as it sits. Never turned in the tags or removed insurance from it. ;)

Does it have regular hubs or mobile home spoke wheels?

6k axle should have 8 lugs
what about brakes and tires? ( i know it probally has tires but what kind and condition)

I can't answer this question as I have seen the trailer, but I really wasn't looking at it in detail, it was just sitting in Tony's driveway while I was at Tony's house.

I think you missed the part that says NO BRAKES
No brakes guys,
Tires are new, (well about 1000 miles on them) and includes a spare.
They are 5 lug axles. I was mistaken on the 6k I think it is rated at 6k total. Basing this off of Jason's comment and the wheels being 5 lug.
They are not mobile home axles. Sorry for the confusion.
I tried taking pics last night but the camera died. Took some with my phone but they suck, it was too dark outside. I will get some up asap.
Don, thanks for fielding the questions for me!
Tony

as you can see my camera phone SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
also, this trailer is not licensed. I never needed to have it done. In KY, as long as it stayed in the state it was not needed as far as i know. I never had any problems to tell me any different.
Just an FYI
So if you need it licensed it will have to be inspected and have a title drawn up on it.
Thanks again
Tony
Guys, the lack of brakes is almost a non issue..........

Tony, my trailer isn't licensed either. I have a bill of sale and that is it. My trailer has been pulled thru KY, IN, TN, OH, IL, PA, NY, CT, NJ, plus a few States that I have forgotten about and I have never had an issue with lack of license plate......
Now if you live in a State that requires trailer to be licensed, you will need to do so, but it should not be any big deal.

When I bought my trailer, I'll called the county court house and asked them about trailer plates.
The girl at the courthouse, informed me that in KY if the trailer was for personal use, it did not have to have a plate.
If it was for commercial use, it needed a plate.
Unfortunately, in KY, if you title it you pay tax on it.
But my trailer is titled, and plated and it cost like 33. a year...
Still cheaper than IL where the smallest trailer plate is like 54/yr.
Hope that helps.
thanks for all the help guys!

Keep in mind that if you trailer through a state that requires plates then they can ticket you for not having one. I just got pulled over for no plates on Sunday. I took my 27' camper to Pigeon Forge and stayed for the weekend. I don't have it registered or tagged but there is a tag on there from 1995. I had been told be many that tags are not required in TN on anything. Well Mr. State Trooper corrected me on that straight away. He was cool though and told me that any fixed top camper required tags, so no tag needed on pop-ups. Flatbed trailers and boats that are personal use do not require them either.
MO requires a title and tag and for a 3year tag fully transferrable I paid $24
Guys, we have done a major hi-jack to Tony's sell thread....

Geez thread cop or post padder? :p
Tony you probably have 3500lb axles
Hi Jack away guys. There is some good info in here for people when they need to get a trailer and have questions on license etc....
.
On a side note, the trailer is off the market for the time being. The boss, my wife, wants to keep it for a while to haul her car behind the RV when we go camping. I will let you all know if things change.
