Hey everyone, I am now trying to find a 96 or 97 XJ. I am planning on lifting it as soon as the money comes around. I am thinking of putting one of the Rustys 4.5in lift. That means I would run either 31s or 32s. I was wondering with that size tire what the gas mileage would be like? Gas in my area is about $2.30 so I am thinking it might be better now to go with a smaller tire due to gas prices. For those of you who have XJs and are running 31, 32, or 33in tires let me know what your gas mileage is likes.

hi b1kenne
i have a wrangler so i think you should get better gas milage than me due to your more aro-dynamic shape, but here is what my gas milage looks like:
(stock)
-city driving 10-12mpg
-interstate, 14mpg
(lifted with 33's x 12.5 tires)(my lift is not installed yet but i think these will be accuret)
-city, 10ish
-interstate, 12 ish (i have 3.07 gears so the loss of 5th gear is going to mess my milage up)
hope this can help

I have a stock XJ, the one listed in my sig. I'm getting anywhere from 16.5+/- to 22 mpg. But mostly I get around 19.5 mpg. I have 225/75/15 tires and 3.55 gears.

I'm pushing around 16mpg. But that's with 31's and 3.07 gears. And we all know that 3.07 gears = teh suck.
