Well, after my last wheeling trip I got quite a bit of mud on the seats, roll bar seat belt area etc. So I took all the carpet out to hose out the interior. After driving it for a few days without the carpet I have decided to leave it out. Anyone else take out the carpet? All that yellow paint sure makes it look roomier in there as well.

Yep carpet out. I did put a couple of coats of Herculiner on the floor to protect it from rusintg. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

No carpet here either. Inner tub lined with truck bed lining. Sure does make the clean up easier with the hose. It's also nice to not have to worry about the rain as much since the carpet isn't there to get soaked. Now I just need to sell my carpet to free up some room in the garage.

yeah i took my carpet out also. I put a few coats of do-it-yourself bed liner in the tub to protect agaist rust .. In combination with my waterproof seat covers clean up is really easy via garden hose. I've been very pleased so far with this type of set up.

My Carpet is coming out after this deployment. IS there any problem with extra heat in the floor boards? BE kinda nice in the winter but would be warm in the summer. I am gonna remove anyway, EBay the carpet, some folks will buy ANYTHING! I am also considering some vinayl seats if I can find a set I like or MAYBE even some plastic racing seats with a 5 point harness as a seat belt.

I took my carpet out; then bought a gallon of Herculiner at Autozone; spent a few hours rolling it on; and am happy with it.
No worry about rust or water or mud...in fact, I have a pretty good layer of mud/dry dirt 'inside' my Jeep at all times....really need to get around to cleaning it out....
Is the highway noise louder?

I have heard that it should deaden the noise a bit.

with a 4" lift, 33's and the other creaks and squeaks its hard to tell /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
but then if i was concerned about creature comforts and a quiet ride I'd a bought a VW Tow-Rag

I pulled mine last summer; threw it in the trash; and Herculined all the tub and the roll-bars (I also took the sissy cloth rollbar covers off and ditched them)
Don't miss the carpet one bit; and the 1/2 inch thick layer of mud, sticks, and leaves in my floorboard are just waiting for more company!
There was once a time I considered keeping it hosed out and neat inside; but then I grew up; and realized that that meant I was not Offroadin enough.

My carpet, roll bars etc... were out at 50 miles...i love being able to just power wash away...my brother did the same except he has put the texturized bed liner all over his floors. I just use heavy duty mats. Wet carpet smells real yucky!
