Looking for a new jeep, and wanting to know if anyone knows what year it started that you can turn off pass. side airbag with key. I think 01 but wasnt sure if 00 will do it or not. Thanks.

I don't know when it started but your correct, the 01's have that ability. Not sure on the 00.

If it doesnt have a switch, just pull the fuse behind the glovebox.

Mine is an 04 and doesn't have that feature as far as I know...

mines an 03 and i know mine doesnt have it. it goes by trim packages. also not sure why you would want to unless you have an animal that rides there, or a child illegally. chances are it wont go off in a flop. never seen one do it before.

i have a 21 month old that is riding in the back now, and am having another baby so I wanted him to sit up front. I was under the impression that you dont want to put someone that young with a car seat in the front with the airbag. Thats why im curious about this. I have a 97 4 cyl for sale for this main reason. A few other reasons but this is the main. thanks for your help

I have an o4 tj and ive been hit once and hit someone once and neither of my airbags have ever deployed( may not work i don't know). I ride my grandson up front all of the time if the seat is not turned around backwards it is not against the law in tn, but not advised to do so. if you have your back seat out there's not much of a choice but to do so ( only if the child is facing forward though).Haven't you heard the ray charles public service announcement song back seat baby. although that song could have multiple meanings he's talking about children. the other kind of backseat baby i known a few in my day.

my 99 Sport had the ability to disable the pass airbag with a keyturn, but my 05 Rubi is no dice

06 Rubicon does not have this optoin that I know of.
Then again neither did my 06 Wrangler X.
