So I finally am going to get started working on my 48 2a.

It's been a while since I put it into storage, but I picked it up and brought it home yesterday. The only problem i had was I lost one of the chairs on the way home.

My plans.
get the body off (may be replacing it in the future)
work on the frame
get the engine running and more or less driving with out the body

once all that is finished, I will work on the body.
The body needs several panels and a complete floor
as for the floor, I plan on making the floor panels myself since they are so expensive and i have a reduced budget for the project.

love that "custom" exhaust! Simple, yet functional...sort of

Have fun. I have always wanted to do one, just never seem to have the space or the time.

So I came up with this idea... would it be possible to swap a fuel injected engine and manual transmission out of a TJ, YJ, or XJ into the CJ?

Would be more reliable, cleaner burning, more modern, etc...

If your gonna do all that may as well go with a new frame and build it to wheel.

the body swap is a possibility, but I just need to find one.

The engine is in pretty bad shape.

I'm a tad late getting in on this, however, the 2.3 Ford is a very popular swap.
Lots of aftermarket parts.
Novak used to have a convo kit.

Another swap is a Buick 225 v6, lots of guys used the odd fire at one time but the 231 even fire is the same block.
The 4.3 seems to be the hot swap now.
