View Full Version : Rust-like stains

Okay, this is a wierd one. Whenever I park my Jeep in the driveway and it rains, it seems like it is leaving behind some kind of rust stain. I'm not sure if it is coolant (I use the orangish stuff), rust from somewhere in the engine bay (maybe the battery tray - it looks sad or what).
Has anybody had an issue like this with their Jeeps? My wife wants me to park it in the street - Nope. Not doing that. My coolant levels look normal and the stain is not dark enough to be an oil stain. Any thoughts or ideas of where I could check?

Are you sure it isn't Jeep urine?
It's mud left over from your last wheelin trip.....

My last wheeling trip was to TB and the mud isn't this color. The more I look at it, the more it looks like my exhaust pipes are rusting. It rained last night and is supposed to today, so I left it at home where there were no stains, hoping it would make some kind of stain and I can trace it back.
Paul what maybe happening, is that there is mud somewhere, and its holding the water back, like in the frame rails, and is slowly weeping out rust color. The best bet is to get under there with a flashlight, and take a real good look while the engine is running. If thats negative, take out the hose, and section by section check to see where its dripping down from. Anyway have fun, take care
Taste it. If you through up for a month then it is coolant. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/flag.gif

I can see myself now on my hands and knees licking my driveway. People will wonder if my wife doesn't feed me enough iron or minerals. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
Since I first posted this, I haven't seen any new ones, so I'm thinking I had SOMETHING on my Jeep that I have since washed off. I dunno, I still think it is this dang red clay...
