Question: what kind of oil pressure does everyone see on stock gauges, specifically with the 6? The reason I ask is took my first trip today after my engine swap. Every since I got complete I've been showing a pressure above 80 on the stock gauge. During my trip I had some issues with a couple wires and lost charge and jeep died. Once wires corrected and was back running I noticed that my pressure on my gauge would drop to about 40 and stay a while then back up above 80. If I remember right I think my normal readings for my 2.5 were around 40. If I'm not mistaking, this gauge is electric, correct? Where is the sending unit? Any ideas to see if the gauge is correct or could I actually be having fluxes in my pressure? Of course I'm out of state and don't have any of my tools with. Thanks.

Sounds like either a bad connection or a bad sending unit. I don't remember off the top of my head, how the sending unit should read.

From what you're saying, I would almost bet money that the sending unit is bad. Do you have the 4cyl sending unit? Swap it in.

Did you put a sending unit in the engine or was there one already installed?

No the sending unit was the one already in the 6. Now the 2.5 has already gone to the junk yard or I would pull that sending unit and try it (good idea). It just made me nervous when the reading has been consistent above 80. The change is what made me nervous. I had a gauge flux a few times and then drop to 10 and shortly there after the motor blew. Thankfully this gauge only dropped to 40. I don't know what it read in the donor jeep either. I don't know off the top of my head where the sending unit is located.
