Wow, 'sounds like you live on the edge.
On most cars, you can follow the sound and pull the noise maker.

the instructions for turning it off are in the owners manual. i don't remember what they are right off hand.
something about turning the key to "on," then buckling and un-buckling the belt 3 times.

yea, i tuned mine off. i wear mine on the road, but when im on the famr and stuff i dont wear it unless things get extreme. The owners manual will give you the instructions.

I read something about draining the dinger fluid ;) Seriously, research a FSM (Factory Service Manual) on your Jeep and you will find which fuse to pull. Could be under the dash, behind the glove box, or even under the hood. I have a 2001 and just had to pull a fuse behind the glove box to kill the dinger and the dome light (thought the dome light can still be activated manually).
On another note if you have a manual tranny, there is a fuse you can put in to allow for the engine to start without depressing the clutch (can come in handy on the trails).

I wear the seat belt on the road, and off-road I buckle it up behind me. Thus no Ding.

on the YJs there is a connector under the seat. It is just a two wire plug very simple but then again most hings on a YJ are!
