A mechanic put my MJ on a hoist and cracked and bent an already weak frame. It's damage is between the cab and bed. Any ideas on replacing or fixing would be great. Thanks Dawn:(

Oh dang. Obviously the mechanic didn't know about the hybrid unibody/frame MJ's have?
Maybe some one with an answer will chime in soon.

can you put a cut on the crack to prevent it from more then weld and plate as necessary...but maybe a losing battle once the damage is done....

Most time you can drill a hole at the end of a crack and stop it from continuing, then make repairs/plating as needed.
You got any pics that show location of crack and how bent, "Bent" is?

Comanches have frames?! Thought they were the XJ's country cousins with unibodies!:D

Do you think Steve was the Mechanic?

yeah thats what I mean drill a hole or cut across it, drill would be easier ;)
So when he lifted it up the crack was prob there just not as big and the weight cracked further and bent at same time...

I thought the same thing a couple of years ago. However, I thought they had full frames like a regular truck. They have a unibody front end, with frame rails bolted on for the rear section.

I never really thought about how much a unibody flexes and twist. I had mine up on lift this weekend. All the pads did not touch the unibody at the same time as i raised it, but it was not really all that far off either. ANyway, i went to open the passenger side door and it was hanging up a bit on the latch because it was slightly twisted and in a bind after I raised it up. Normally the doors open and close just fine. That made me wonder how much that thing twist out on trails.
I would like to see some of your photos of damage. I know xj's have been know to rip near the point where the rear leaf attaches in front. Keep us posted.

I would say grind out the crack. Fill it. then put a plate over it.
You may want to put some sort of stiffener in it. Something like a unibody stiffener for the xjs.
I've never worked on one, just putting out ideas.
