LED Tail light help

im installing my led's today and i wasnt sure about the wires from the factory plug.. can anyone tell me what the wires are(flasher,brake,hot)??? i know there was a thread on here about this at one time, but i cant find it...

could take a volt meter and watch the voltage jump as you hit the brakes, and signals.

If I remember, there is only 3 wires: RH turn/brake, LH turn/brake, & running lights. I ran a ground to the body for each light.

you dont by chance remember what color they were do you? i just dont want to hook them up backwards and mess them up..

he has good directions and you'll also need to do the flasher mod thing so it doesn't flash so quickly.

is the wiring in the tj and yj the same for the tail light assembly?

Or not flash at all! That's what mine did and all I had to replace was the flasher under the dash with an alectronic one. I think it was $10.49 at the parts store. As far as the hook up, look at your wires and see if there are two of the same color, I think mine was gray?????, which go to the tail lights. Not sure tho, I just used a VM to check the wiring.

As PDK said, check Stu's site. IIRC the colors are the same:

Jeep Harness Light Function

Purple/Black - Backup light - N/A on LED harness
Black/Yellow - Tail light or Side marker light - Black wire on LED
Green/Red - Left Stop & Turn Signal - Red wire on LED
Brown/Red - Right Stop & Turn Signal - Red wire on LED

For the ground, the Jeep wiring doesn't have it, so ground to an unpainted bolt somewhere in the back. On the LED harness, it is the white wire.

ok so i got them installed, and they wont flash at all, im going to pick up an electronic flasher, but i wasnt where the old one is located, i've had two ppl tell me two different locations, can anyone give me a solid answer? the guys at the parts house ooked at me like i was crazy when i told him i did an led conversion...

dont know bout a yj but a tj flasher is under all that plastic on the steering coloum right behind the steering wheel.

Above the fuse panel under the left side of the dash.

If they are not blinking, first be sure you have wired the signal lights correctly. The colors I mentioned above SHOULD be the same for a YJ, but can't confirm unless I check my manuals, which are not here.

The TJ's flasher relay is attached to the underside of the steering column assembly, but the YJ may be different since your dash is different.
