Well after about 8 years of not owning my own DD I have finally bought one. It is a 2002 WJ. It is steel blue with tan int. I am the third owner and I bought is from a young lady in Hermitage. It is loaded and has the V8 with 120k miles. So far I love it, the ride is great and the power is awsome. For the money...I could not ask for a better car.

A V-8? I didn't know you could get the V-8 in the Laredo. I've always thought you had to step up to the Limited.

Yep...V8...I dont know enough about Grand's to know what is normal and what is not. It is a 4x4 but sorry guys...this is my DD and it wont see the trails. I already have a rig for that. I am really suprised at how good the ride quality is.

In the WJ's you could get the 4.oL or the V-8. In 1999 & 2000, you could get the Quadra Drive system in the Laredo with the 4.0L even. After 2000? you had to get the V-8 AND the LIMITED if you wanted the Quadra Drive system. The sticker price also took a MAJOR dive after 2000 model.

Andy, if this is going to be a DD for ya and not see trails, I'd HIGHLY recommend the Addco swaybars for it. It will really change its handling w/o changing the ride quality. You'll find it MUCH more stable in corners. If we had kept our WJ, that would have been THE one mod I did to it. Now that I've done that mod on my Avalanche, my wife has really seen the difference it makes. A very good on-road mod!

Well, the Ford cost about $100.00 a week in fuel, plus I am just tired of driving that monster around everywhere all the time. I will still drive it about one day a week just to keep it running good.

Paul...I will check into that down the road. For now, I am just gonna drive it and take care of all the little things. I did notice last night that is does have a leaking rear axle seal on the driver's side. Other than that...everything else apears to be cosmetic.

Dont give us that crap Andy! You cant ever just leave it stock! I see a small lift, Some larger beefy type tires, A new sound system and maybe some tint on the windows! Oh, And a new cool sounding exhaust system. Thats just for starters.

Andy's03
11-07-2008, 09:57 AM
Nah...not for now on anything other than the exhaust....I broke the muffler getting it off the trailer so it is gonna need a new one. I may tint the front windows and recover the front seat in the future but no lift or tire mods. I want to keep this a pimp ride...not a mall crawler.

I did notice last night that is has a leaking rear axle seal. It has been so long since I messed with one....are the seals on the axle shaft or in the housing.

Andy, that WJ is a sweet ride for DD. I don't blame you for wanting to keep it stock. The WJ is just a nice all purpose vehicle that is big enough, but not too big to be a joy to drive around town or on the X-way. I enjoy driving my WJ and/or the XJ.... but when it's time to play, I'll pull the Little Jeep out of the garage and leave my other Jeeps on blacktop. :)

I still miss my WJ...

I have a great pic of it in front of Half Dome or El Capitan at Yosemite I need to scan in...

Oh for you WJ owners. www.wjjeeps.com is a GREAT resource for your Jeep.

Ah, so there it is. I've been kinda quiet lately, didn't notice. Cool WJ! We need more pics.

No Jeep can be left stock. And I mean NO JEEP. Not even mine.

Speaking of mods... where the heck is my tax refund? :D

Well I just tinted my front windows and added some padding to the center console cover. I'm done with the comfort and convenience mods. Next up are lighting upgrades (of course, HIDs and fogs) and a small 2" suspension lift. Then I'll be done for a while. I'd like to get rid of these wheels but not anytime soon.

I know what the bolt patterns are.

The WJ, WK, and JK are 5x5.

Rubi wheels (Moabs) look great on everything except the Rubicon. Just my personal opinion. Don't kill me. :p
