I've seen both referenced when discussing the Unlimiteds. I just picked mine up and can't see either letter designation in the paperwork. Where are the people who are calling them LJs getting that from?

Thanks....

I have heard them refered to as both. I call them LJ's just cause they are different, but either way works.

It's really TJ-D, but people refer it to LJ for "Long Jeep"... ugh, anyway, don't call it TJ-L, because that's the military TJ. here's a pic

****...You guys are fast!

I didn't think it was official(LJ), but wanted to confirm.

Like I stated, I just picked it up. It was ordered on Feb.19th and got to the dealer on Monday(Mar.7th). This was WAY before they said it would be there. And it's a terrible time for us workwise. My wife is an accountant and had to actually block an appointment hour to drop me off at the dealer. She was the one who wanted to pick it up so the dealer wouldn't be using it for "demo" rides, otherwise it would have been next week before we could go get it. So naturally, it was already dark out by the time I pulled out of the dealer's lot and I haven't had a chance to really get to know it yet. I even forgot to bring a CD with me so I could hear the sound set-up!
It's supposed to get sloppy here tomorrow (an inch of snow mixed with rain and sleet...again), so it's just going to sit until the spare cover and the slush mats that I ordered come to the house.

The last time I was at a place called TB in Kentucky was in a boat at a marina called Turtle Bay! We have been to Kentucky Lake a couple of times with boat (22' Sea-Ray) and kids (when they were young) and we love the area. I've been to Paducah and said to Mrs.'Sote that I bet it's a purty nice town. Our town is 'bout the same size, but laid out real haphazard like. It's about 160 years old and is an old river town. Like all older towns (cities now), they never planned on getting this big, so the spread and congestion is somewhat inevitable I guess. We're a gen-you-wine suburb of Chicago now!

As far as those trails go...you better have a case or so of Goose Island Pis (look it up with Google) at the top! That's the only way I'm gonna get Mrs.'Sote to let me try that! AND we'll do it in the XJ that we decided to keep. We both thought that was (is) still the best looking car we've ever bought.

This Unlimited is my seventh Jeep so I've been around the block as far as these things are concerned. AAMOF, it was HER idea to keep the old XJ. It only has 80K on it and still looks perfect. The only reason I (we) got the new one was the incentive and since I was looking at getting an Accord or a Passat, she figured why not get a totally irrational vehicle and see how we liked it before growing up. How's that for reasoning?

I'll spill all the beans when I have time to write up a full introductory post, but until then....

People said that about KJs too (Regarding the VIN plate)... claiming that the 4x2s were KJs and 4x4s were LJs...

In the end, they were KJs... all of them, just like this is just a TJ.

I've got one of these LWB Wranglers on order myself. When I get it, I'll look around for evidence of the LJ notation, but I haven't seen it on aything official so far.

The Jeep designation for the Unlimited is TJJH78. The Unlimited Rubicon is TJJS78. The "78" part seems to indicate the LWB since the Sport is TJJH77 and the regular Rubicon is a TJJS77. First two letters seem to be the model, second two letters are the trim, and the number indicates the wheelbase.

JP Magazine is calling the Unlimited an LJ in their articles. I'm also seeing LJ used in some of the Jeep accessory catalogs as well.

But...... directly from Chrysler/Jeep? You're not gonna see it.
