After taking out our dog Cicely this morning to the backyard, she went to the flower bed and laid down and looked at me like, ok Dad, time to go. The decision was made, and Robin and I took her to the vet to be put to sleep. No more suffering with a stomach cancer that has cause her pain in the past month. She will be missed. Think we will wait a while before we decide on another dog. I certainly hope Paul, that you had better news. Mike /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif Sorry, Mike. Those animals can become like your kids. I know how it is to lose a dog.

mike, I truly feel it with ya. Putting Kermit down last year was probably one of the toughest things I had to do. I knew I was doing the humane thing, but I still felt like I was killing my dog.

Lucy's issues are just old age. After having removed lumps last year when being neutered (finally), she has had no recurrence of cancer. The swelling in her leg is indeed arthritis, confirmed by xray. I'll take her back in a month for another xray to confirm that there is no additional growths.

Mike:

So sorry, my friend. You did the right thing, if all she had to look forward to was suffering. I know it took guts to do that, Mike. Take comfort in knowing that you and Robin gave her a great life, one that was full of love for her. A good home with plenty of love is the ultimate for a little doggy, and Cecily had that for sure.

I firmly believe we will see out little dogs again in heaven. What kind of place would heaven be without doggies?

Tom
