What To Do???

Ok, I Have A 360 Amc In My Jeep, It Recently Jumped Timing, Im Afraid Its Time To Rebuild.... Or I Have A 258 Thats Been Remanufactured And All It Needs Is A New Carb, I Need Opinions, Either Way Im Pulling The Slush Box And Putting In A T-18 And Dana 20, I Plan To Use This For Daily Driving And Weekend Trails, Need Some Opinions, I Currently Have 3.54 Gears And The T-18 Has The 4 To 1 Low Range:(

I say you will miss the V-8 but with gearing that low as an option for wheeling the 258 will do fine and do ok on the road until you get around to messing around or getting the urge for v-8 again...

I'd probably look around to see if I could find another 360. I saw one sell locally that supposedly ran good for $100.

Sell the 258 and buy a 4.0 you will love the fuel injection and it seems to be a popular swap for the 258. Just a thought though.

I've had both the 4.0 and the 360 and the 4.0 is a DOG compared...

I'd stay with the 360 or swap in a newer 4.0, but I would take the crank and rods from the 258 and put them in the 4.0 to make a "poor mans" stroker. (4.5 w/stock bore, 4.6 w/ .030 over)
