it is a very sad time...as many of you know by now.. skipper got one of sams pups...the pups that everyone was praying for back in november thru janurary....his name is SAM JUNIOR....anyway, sam jr came to the BLUESS GRASS 4X4 PICNIC this weekend, and somehow managed to get lost...pups are just like children,...if you take you eye off them for a second,, they are gone.....well, he is only 7 months old...still a baby...atleast in my eyes....anyway...we searched, and searched....kenny walked all over our farm to try to find him...we drove jeeps around trying to find him...the biggest part of the picnic for some of us was spent trying to find that poor baby!!!....and with no luck i am sorry to say....kenny and i went back sunday for several hours and looked...i went back monday morning and drove around for 3 hours in the country, yelling his name and praying that he would come ....no luck............so when kenny got off work today, after working in the hot sun all day...we went back to the farm and walked all over the tick riddled thickets....we looked every where...we used a whole tank of gas looking today...i am heart broken!!! as i am sure other people are too....i had flyers made up with his picture on it and went to center town today and posted them on every building and every corner.... we even offered a reward....so we need everyone to pray for little sam!!! i cant sleep at night knowing he is lost in those woods some where.. kenny and i are going to try again tomorro...so wish us luck...........i just wanted to let everyone know because you guys were so supportive when those pups were born...and so you guys could send a prayer for sam jr, skipper and kenny and i...after all...he is still our baby even tho he belongs to skipper!!haha...thanks for your prayers in advance...................terry

I wish the best of luck for you. I hope that Sam Jr. shows up soon. A dog can travel a long way in a couple of days. Did he have a tag on him? I am putting a micro chip in my new pup.

Kenny/Terry this is terrible news and I do hope and pray that you find the little guy. I know what you mean about keeping an eye on them. I had to keep at least on eye on Copper all weekend at Gray Rock....man those boys of Sam's just like to roam around. Keep looking and he will show up in a day or so....I have faith.

That makes me sick. Surely he will turn up somewhere. Did he have tags on him? Andy laughs at me for watching Copper like a hawk when we are on wheelin trips. Copper gets that nose to the ground finds a sent and starts to follow.

Keeping Lil Sam in our prayers. Hope he is found soon and returns home safe and sound.

hey skipper..kenny is going back after he gets off work. we found a spot lastnight where we heard a coon barking, but couldnt get to it in our truck..so hes taking the jeep back and is going to investigate...so you are welcome to go with him...i really hate that he gets off in the thickets by himself, just incase something happens...............terry

At 8 mons he's pretty big and when I had Walker Hounds we started hunting them at 6 mons, granted not alone but with older dogs. He will show up when he gets hungry. Maybe not at the same place you lost him, but he will get a wiff of food and show up somewhere. I know it took my hounds at least 24-36 hours to loose interest in a deer.

Best of luck finding him. Is he tagged at least so if someone finds him they can call you? Mine are not but with the new Boxer I need to tag his coller with our name and number

What time do you think he will get to the farm?
I'll try to get off work and meet him there. I'll be there as soon as I can get there, it may be 5 or after but I'll be there.

when we lost one of our coon dogs or had to leave one where we were hunting we would always leave one of our jackets where we turn them loose at and alot of times =they would turn up laying on the jacket/shirt or whatever with our scent on it

I too have faith that he will show up, likely with the shirt!. If by some chance he doesn't then I would say someone else took him.Vern

Thank you all for the thoughts and prayers, I will get another Shirt to take back down there, maybe 2 or 3 , I would give anything to get my buddy back.
I cant help but worry about the fella, he was so timid, and just starting to come out of his shell, I can honestly say he was the best dog I have ever owned

Skipper:

Please don't give up hope. Don't say he "was" the best dog you ever owned, say he "is" the best dog you ever owned.

Many people, including yours truly, are praying for his safe return to his family.

You hear all the time about the long, long journeys that some dogs have taken to get back to their families when they have been separated from them for whatever reason.

When you do find him, take and get the microchip id implanted. It won't help you find him lost in the woods but if some sone finds him, takes him to the vet or pound, they will scan and get him back to you. We did the microchip on Copper.

Hey kenny give the postman in that area a flyer and have him keep an eye out daily.

I don't mean to hijack this but please forgive me. I know about the micro chip and have one in my dog. What I don't understand is the implanted chip that can be located via satellite. They are advertised for senile people, prisoners, etc. They are also implanted in animals to track their movement but most of those (at least some) are rf transmitters and thus are not tracked by satellite but by people with directional receivers in the field.
Anybody got the inside scoop on the satellite trackable chips?

I don't know about the chips but I know through training collar companies you can get those tracking collars. I know coon hunters use them to track dogs while training.

Fred
06-12-2008, 09:24 AM
Go by during the night and if he is in that area still it is likely he will do his hunting at night and bed down during the day. Due to this you may hear him at night

I may be wrong but your dogs may be the best way to find him. If you can get them out there and get them to howling he will come to them. I know half the time you can call Copper and he wont come to you but boy he sure jumps and runs everytime Skip barks.
