Tom and I went to work on Monday and there was a ton
of ice on the road. We did see a JEEP in the ditch!!
Tom got all excited thinking we could pull it out since we
were going to be late anyway but alas.............
no driver anywhere to be seen! lol
That said, Jason, just make sure your boss knows the
difference between ice and snow! ;)

Things are SUPPOSED to start getting fun tonight with a better chance of sleet tomorrow. Just in case, I drove the TJ. It has armor over most of it, so it could be fun watching cars bounce off it. The front fenders and axles are susceptible to damage, but if they got hurt, I'd have insurance buying me flat fenders and new axles/wheels.
http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/36/36_2_50.gif
I keep my recovery gear in the TJ, not so much to help others, but just in case I do something stupid.
Even have a chance of flurries (OOOOOOOHHHHHH) for Friday. Coming from the California mountains, I'm not worried. But it sure is fun to watch those that are. :)
It will be http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/36/36_1_26.gif but it would be great to get enough snow for http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/28/28_4_11.gif. I don't think Huntsville (or even Alabama) owns a http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/28/28_4_6.gif so if it does snow, having a http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/28/28_4_1v.gif may be possible.

When I was a kid, (not saying how long ago), I remember some rather significant accumulations of the white stuff. I know, some might think that events such as those are the ones that really stick out in your memory, which is probably true. But for some reason, I don't think we get as much snow now as we did years ago.
Everyone has a grandparent, or parent, that talks about walking to school, uphill both ways in ankle/knee deep snow. I remember when a snow day was something special, that rarely occurred. Most times the buses would run "snow routes" and the schools would still be in session. If you made it to school, great, if not, you just got behind.
Anywho, I was looking through some pictures the other day of my wife's family in their early years. Just about all the outside winter pictures had some snow accumulation in the background. Could it be that the only time they took pictures was when a special occasion occurred, such as a snowfall? Possibly.
But it just seems as though we had more snow 30+ years ago.
And No, I'm not a tree-hugging, environmental wacko, global warming alarmist. ;)

We probably did have more snow then. FYI, Global warming is nothing but a cycle in Mother Nature's plan. It has zero to do with SUV's and all the crap that the tree huggers would like you to believe. Want proof, all the records that we are breaking now were set when? Approximately 100 years ago..... The World was a different place in the early 1900's and there were zero SUV's, so how did they set these records?

Last big snow here in West Ky, I kept a log chain in my truck(98 Chevy 2500, big block for sure) for all the morons that can not drive in it. Sure enough got the chance to pull out a 4 wheel drive 4 runner in the ditch. I told the guy I would take no responsibility for any damage occured during pull. His wife would not even get out of it and it was off pretty far. I expected it to slide further in before coming out. Lucky for him the truck pulled out like a wet noodle. That was 3 to 4 years ago when we had that 14" snow. My grandfather had pictures of a snowfall decades ago (my memory fails me asto the year) where it had drifted as tall as his milking barn. I think he said it measured about 40" everywhere else. Talk about shutting things down around here for a while. Let it snow, Jason.

we actually started getting tons OF BIG SMOOSHY flakes about 2:30- just in time for school to dismiss in the middle of it! it was snowing so hard I could barely see across the parking lot.
The kids went totally wild! One kindergartner started crying because she didnt know what it was! Another said it was "pouring snow"! It was great fun!
i had to stay all afternoon to work with afterschool care- we took the kids to the playground where there was accumulation- sort of- they made snowball and slung it everywhere! most of these kids had never seen it!
Messy on the roads, plenty sticking in the grass-- not supposed to drop enough to keep us home tomorrow though.
